Our Division is comprised of four departments:

  • Advancement Services and Operations: leads efforts to support the Development and Alumni Engagement teams.
  • Development: leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, parents and friends.
  • Alumni Engagement: leads efforts to provide programs and services to over 315,000 York alumni worldwide.
  • Principal Giving, Donor Relations & Stewardship: leads efforts to secure principal giving and is responsible for the full scope of activities related to donor relations, including stewardship and recognition.

In this role, under the direction of the Manager, Convocation & Special Projects, you will support this mission by providing ceremonies, events and communications support for University Events and Ceremonies. The Ceremonies & Communications Coordinator facilitates the integration of ceremonies, events, and communication initiatives to promote and enhance stakeholder relations, foster growing levels of engagement and support for the University. The incumbent acts as a resource to University ceremonies, events, coordinating communications and marketing initiatives.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

College diploma in one of the following areas: Event Management, Theatre Production, Public Relations, Hospitality, Communications or Marketing or two years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics. Knowledge of protocol and diplomacy. Three (3) years in the Ceremonies, Events or Communications field including: Writing and producing digital and print communications pieces such as formal invitations and event programs, Project Management, Event coordination, Producing multimedia communications (photographs), Developing work-back schedules and critical paths, Making recommendations on scope of work and resources needed.
