THE OPPORTUNITY:

Kids Help Phone has an exceptional opportunity for a strategic, creative and passionate leader to join the team as the Advancement Director, Donor Experience. The person in this role will deepen donor engagement during the historic $300 million Feel Out Loud campaign and beyond. Reporting to the Senior Director, Advancement Strategy & Donor Experience, this role is responsible for managing and evolving the stewardship and donor experience program.
The Advancement Director, Donor Experience is critical to the success of the current campaign and the long-term financial success of the organization. By strengthening relationships with Kids Help Phone’s community and building long-term loyalty with donors, the person in this position will play a critical role in Kids Help’s vision to create future where every young person in Canada can access the support they need, in the way they need it most.
Success in this role requires an unwavering focus on building donor relationships and an ongoing commitment to delivering a best-in-class, one-of-a-kind experience for Kids Help Phone’s generous community of supporters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The scope of responsibility includes, but is not limited to the following:
• Lead a team of donor relations professionals to continuously evolve the donor experience at Kids Help Phone.
• Create and execute acknowledgment, recognition, impact reporting and engagement strategies to ensure a best-in-class and meaningful experience for donors across all giving levels, segments, affinity groups and entry points.
• Oversee and develop custom engagement plans for top campaign supporters, in consultation with Key Relationship Managers.
• Create, implement and oversee donor communications including impact reports and ongoing stewardship updates with donors.
• Provide guidance and expertise to the Advancement Department to ensure communications to donors are timely and meaningful. Oversee ongoing updates of templates and processes.
• Oversee donor recognition, including donor lists, donor signage, social media engagements and ongoing gestures of appreciation.
• Plan, develop and execute public gift announcements, in collaboration with the Brand, Storytelling and Communications team.
• Lead strategy and execution for National Volunteer Week and National Philanthropy Day.
• Utilize current and new reports to track donor deliverables, ensure all supporters are engaged in a timely and meaningful manner and track duration in stewardship. Advise Key Relationship Managers of required and recommended actions for individual donors.
• Use data and metrics to guide strategy and improve the program on an ongoing basis.
• Develop plan for donor recognition and engagement for the Campaign finale, in consultation with the Senior Director, Advancement Strategy and Donor Experience.
• Develop and track donor experience budget and key performance indicators; ensure prompt identification of challenges and solutions to ensure achievement of goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experiences:
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in Advancement roles focused on donor relations and stewardship.
• Experience developing creative stewardship plans and strategies, especially those requiring extensive multi-stakeholder consultation.
• Experience managing staff and engaging colleagues at all levels and teams to create collaborative impact.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cross-functionally with donors, suppliers, staff, volunteers and other relevant stakeholders
• Experience providing superior customer service, applying sound judgment when dealing with donors and volunteers.
• Entrepreneurial, creative, strategic and energetic.
• Exercises excellent diplomacy and judgment while navigating difficult situations.
• Budgeting and financial management skills.
• Ability to focus in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively and efficiently. Superior organizational skills and strict attention to detail, while working under deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Commitment to the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, Raiser’s Edge and electronic databases.
• Possess an acceptable “Vulnerable Person Sector Criminal Reference Check” prior to starting employment.
• Possess a current “Police Reference Check” prior to starting employment
