The Division of Advancement promotes York University’s teaching and research priorities by engaging our diverse community of alumni and friends to build long-term mutually beneficial relationships to secure philanthropic support for the University’s students.

Our team is comprised of four (4) departments: 1. Advancement Services and Operations leads efforts to support the Development and Alumni Engagement teams 2. Development leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, parents, and friends 3. Principal Giving, Donor Relations & Stewardship leads effort to secure principal giving and is responsible for the full scope of activities related to donor relations, including stewardship and recognition 4. Alumni Engagement provides programs and services to over 350,000 York alumni worldwide.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FULL-TIME CONTRACT TO DECEMBER 2022.

In this role you will develop and implement Annual Giving strategies and programs that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts from governors, alumni, parents, faculty/staff and friends. These include in-person solicitations, telemarketing, direct mail, on-line giving, e-giving, and emerging opportunities (eg. those associated with social networking) through multiple branded programs including the Family Campaign, Leadership Giving, the Corporate Matching program, special solicitations and individually branded mail, telefundraising, and on-line campaigns. You will direct this activity, reaching over 150,000 prospective donors each year with a goal of securing gifts of up to $25,000. Work is conducted in collaboration with the University-wide Development team, the decentralized Advancement offices in Schulich, Osgoode, and Glendon, with a view to achieving as broad and as loyal a donor base as possible.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

A university education or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience, specifically in an educational setting with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leading role in a successful annual fund operation. Management experience required preferably in a unionized environment. University fundraising experience an asset.
