
Co-ordinator, Development & Communications
We are seeking a highly-skilled, incredibly organized, and experienced Coordinator who is enthusiastic, thoughtful, thorough, and committed to excellence. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director, Advancement, and work closely with the Annual Fund Manager and Gift Administrator. They will be part of a small but mighty team of about 10 staff and many more volunteers. The annual salary range for this position sits at approximately $57,000.
Who we are:
The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (“CCLA”) is Canada’s national human rights and fundamental freedoms NGO, since 1964. CCLA intervenes in Canadian courts, testifies before legislatures, advocates through all media, and engages in activism, education, and outreach across Canada for dignity and fundamental rights for all people in Canada. We work to actively fight against injustice, such as prolonged solitary confinement, abortion access restrictions, censorship, racial profiling by police, unfairness in the criminal system, and privacy invasions by government. Along with the ACLU, we’re part of a network of human rights organizations around the world, called INCLO.
The Advancement Coordinator will be an integral part of CCLA’s Fundraising and Communication departments. They will play an important role in ensuring processes are streamlined and efficient and will work with the team collaboratively to ensure goals are successfully met.

What you will do:
Fundraising and Communications
- Support the Senior Director’s and Annual Fund Manager’s roles in the execution of the Advancement portfolio
- Work with the Gift Administrator in the management and maintenance of the database Little Green Light (“LGL”), including helping generate reports, gift processing, and generating and sending tax receipts for donations when required
- Manage the deployment, logistics, and administrative support for newsletters, appeals, and other solicitations
- Support the fundraising-related administration for Annual Fund and Monthly Giving
- Conduct thank you calls, respond to inquiries, and act as the primary contact and liaison for donors’ administrative needs
- Pull queries from the LGL database when required for appeals, reports, and other deliverables
- Support administrative needs for quarterly Board Reporting
- Collect and forward mailed donations to the Gift Administrator
- Proofread deliverables including proposals and appeals
Web and Social Media
- Maintain CCLA and CCLET web posts through collaboration with Program Directors
- Manage all website issues with vendors
- Manage and post social media content on all CCLA platforms
- Create and edit graphic designs for Constant Contact social media postings using Canva where required
Vendor and Volunteer Management
- Co-ordinate with the media team, with the support of the Annual Fund Manager, regarding public/media inquiries
- Manage CCLA relationships with vendors as required
- Manage the Volunteer Team (approximately 20 volunteers)
Other
- Track and log all Advancement spending, pay invoices when required
- Confidently recommend new ideas and better ways to do things
- Engage in all of your tasks with a positive and proactive attitude.
Requirements:
- College Diploma or University’s Degree, or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years LGL or comparable customer relationship management experience. Training will be provided where required
- Comfort with technology and processes, including training of gift processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Canva
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills in order to proofread acknowledgment letters and communicate directly with donors via email or phone
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Someone who takes pride in database management, organizational skills, values stewardship, and is passionate about helping individual and corporate donors and volunteers.
