In June 2021 Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, Canada’s first smart hospital and the first net-new hospital in Ontario in over 30 years, opened its doors joining Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital to serve the needs of the rapidly growing communities in western York Region. In tandem, and equally monumental, the $250-million Ultimate campaign, the largest-ever fundraising campaign for a community hospital in Canada, is raising funds to support the local share to build and equip Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. To date, the Ultimate campaign has successfully raised $209 million and is well-poised to meet its $250-million goal.

 

Now, Mackenzie Health Foundation is poised for a renewed strategic plan and has its eyes firmly set on the future – one that will help set the course for health care in York Region for generations to come.

The Foundation’s marketing communications team is looking for a new team member. A service-minded self-starter with a passion for writing and the ability to deliver high-quality donor communications. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, and as a member of an integrated communications team, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for building, executing and delivering marketing/communication services across multiple platforms to raise awareness of the Foundation and engage our current and prospective donors in support of the Ultimate campaign.

 

 

Contribute to the Foundation by:

  • Developing, executing, and delivering marketing communication services to our internal partners, and be accountable for project management and execution including workflow and budget.
  • Writing, researching and interviewing to produce a wide range of internal and external marketing communications products including event marketing materials, speaking remarks, website content, grateful patient stories and more.
  • Developing creative and compelling marketing materials in support of fundraising efforts, including digital and social advertising, brochures, posters, billboards and other promotional items.
  • Preparing briefing notes, key messages and speaking remarks for donor events and projects.
  • Working with the fundraising teams to ensure marketing communications deliverables and requirements are clearly defined and delivered on time, on budget and on brand.
  • Proofreading and fact checking communications and marketing materials to ensure accuracy.
  • Producing post-campaign documentation for internal and external purposes
  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications participate in brand-related strategic planning sessions, working closely with external agencies and internal stakeholders at the Foundation and hospital.

 

What you must have:

  • College or university diploma or degree related to communications, public relations, marketing or journalism.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with knowledge of CP Style and demonstrated ability to write compelling and emotive stories that demonstrate the impact of giving.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a communications professional.
  • Experience with a hospital foundation considered an asset.

  • Strategic digital communications skills, including content and asset development to maximize engagement.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to prioritize competing demands and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.*
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders/partners.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • The ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

* Foundation staff are required to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends on occasion. You may be required to work at any site of Mackenzie Health including Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, or the Mackenzie Health Foundation office.
