We Are
Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and expert in perishable food recovery.
We rescue surplus, unsold food from across the supply chain and redistribute it to not-for-profits across the country to feed communities.
The Coordinator, Marketing and Communications performs a variety of administrative, knowledge
management, and project coordination tasks related to the efficient and effective operations of the
Marketing & Communications (Marcom) department. As an important member of the marketing team, this
role is responsible for maintaining the overall communications calendar, budget tracking, invoice coding,
meeting coordination/scheduling, serving as primary stakeholder of file and resource management, and
developing workflows and processes to improve communication and support between Marcom and other
departments.
You Will
- Participate in strategic planning activities to identify and implement goals/objectives.
- Work closely with members of the Marketing & Communication department to provide administrative support that improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- Create and maintain an organizational calendar that tracks organizational milestones and activities.
- Create knowledge management structures, establish and document naming conventions, and maintain the accuracy of marketing and communication resources including all digital assets (photo library, video library, Marcom resources on SharePoint); develop processes for cross-team collaboration via Microsoft Teams, Smartsheets, and other platforms.
- Track, attend, and schedule all kick-off meetings for new projects ensuring briefs are prepared in advance, appropriate agendas, notes, and follow-up activities are identified.
- Support the development of marketing collateral, sourcing assets as required.
- Prepare presentations and reports as required.
- Coordinate events and provide support.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.
You Are
- An Organized, System-Thinker: you have a knack for bringing order and developing processes. You have excellent project and time management skills and keen attention to detail.
- Detail Oriented and Comfortable Taking Initiative: you have proven ability to manage systems, set priorities, and can work independently.
- Technical: you have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) as well as SharePoint and Smartsheet.
- Flexible: constant change motivates you to adapt and grow; you are open to new technology and a changing work environment; you can think creatively to solve problems and meet deadlines.
- Committed to building relationships across internal teams.
- Interested and curious about food recovery, the environment, and hunger relief.
- Able to work flexible hours, which may include working from home, with some weekend and evening work.
