What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Communications (MarCom), the Coordinator, Marketing & Communication (Jr. Designer), is a creative, energetic, and driven individual that is able to create compelling and impactful designs across a range of disciplines, platforms and channels for various initiatives.

Working with the Foundation team and in partnership with SHN’s Hospital Corporate Communications team, the selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting the design, marketing and communications efforts of SHN Foundation and the Love, Scarborough campaign. Responsibilities include the creation and design of top-notch print and digital marketing materials, such as websites, impact reports, presentations, social media assets, event collateral, and branded merchandise. Additionally, the successful candidate will help coordinate and implement marketing activities and communications for SHN Foundation, ensuring that all initiatives effectively promote the foundation’s objectives and key messages.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and implement creative concepts to be distributed through SHN Foundation’s comprehensive network of communications channels including website, events, social media, reports, collateral, email communications, advertising, direct mail, and more
  • Support and evolve the Foundation’s brand identity, content strategy, photography and video strategy, creative production process, and rebrand and/or redesign existing materials as needed
  • Design, layout and create collateral for multiple mediums (print, digital, and activation) including brochures, invitations, presentations, proposals, cases-for-support, email assets, event materials, newsletters, signage, renderings, stewardship materials, mail advertisements, and more
  • Support the Foundation’s rapidly growing brand and marketing initiatives – assist with development of the Foundation’s overall marketing strategy, the maintenance of the brand pertaining to our platforms and the execution of marketing and communications initiatives, programs, and campaigns through a design lens
  • Collaborate in the design process, from briefing, ideation, to delivery of exciting creative strategies and assets for projects within the Foundation or through agency/vendors
  • Assist in organizing, creating, and maintaining brand standards across all creative assets in SHN Foundation’s asset library, including templates, photography, logos, and more
  • Support in maintaining SHN Foundation website properties, including preparing graphics, creating new pages, updating content, and troubleshoot where necessary from a user experience and design lens
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure creative deliverables align with brand guidelines and business objectives with various portfolios such as Major Gifts, Community Development, Legacy Giving, Annual Programs, and more
  • Provide on-site support for Foundation events and initiatives through photography or marketing activities as needed
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Communications team to ensure Foundation presence and weaving in Foundation branding and key messaging throughout their separate initiatives and channels

What you bring to the position:

  • Completion of a university or college degree/diploma in or with a specialization in Graphic Design, Visual Design, or a related field
  • A minimum of 1 (one) year of professional experience in a design, marketing, or communications role; within a not-for-profit environment is an asset
  • A strong understanding of branding, layout, colour, and typography
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), and Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of photography and videography, as well as editing and publishing software (i.e., Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Experience with creative file pre-press and production, and is able to deliver digital or print files and work with printers or agencies as needed

  • Excellent track record of work performance, attendance and punctuality and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Enthusiastic and collaborative team player, willingness to learn and lead projects
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community

Additional qualifications that are assets:

  • Familiarity with content management systems (i.e., WordPress, SharePoint), email marketing platforms (i.e., MailChimp), and other online software (i.e., Asana, Canva)
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, including the development of digital and social media advertisements
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and Figma
  • Experience with illustration, animation, and/or videography
