Sheena’s Place supports individuals with eating disorders, and their families and friends.  We do this by providing free group-based services in a welcoming, non-institutional, non-residential community-based setting.  We’re centrally located in downtown Toronto, very close to public transportation.

Sheena’s Place does not receive any government funding. Our operations are supported solely by revenue from fundraising efforts and interest/dividends from an endowment fund.

Reporting to the Development Manager, the successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of fundraising plans, campaigns, and events to help raise revenue to further the mission of Sheena’s Place. This position requires a combination of in-person and virtual engagement.

In this role you will:

Data Management

  • Ensure the integrity of data by updating records and resolving inconsistencies in the database.
  • Organize and verify monthly donation records and assist with bookkeeping reconciliations.
  • Generate customized data reports to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Assist with prospect research to identify potential donors through data analysis.

Communications

  • Support with email communications.
  • Design visual assets (e.g., infographics, posters) in Canva and Photoshop for fundraising campaigns and events on social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Write compelling captions and accurate image descriptions for accessibility and engagement.
  • Contribute to the development and design of the Annual Report

Campaign Management

  • Assist with creation of mission-aligned content for campaign web pages, emails, and social media.
  • Design visually appealing marketing materials, including logos and promotional graphics, using Canva and/or Photoshop.
  • Leverage CRM email marketing tools to segment audiences and create targeted emails.

Event Coordination

  • Contribute to the planning process of fundraising events, including budgeting, timelines, and logistical coordination.
  • Assist with identifying sponsorship opportunities and cultivating relationships with corporate partners.
  • Assist with vendor relationships with vendors (venues, A/V, caterers, sponsors), negotiate discounted rates, and oversee contract fulfillment and invoice tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Specialist to develop promotional materials across multiple platforms.
  • Assist with event logistics such as ticketing setup, guest communication, accessibility arrangements, and post-event follow-up.
  • Assist with coordination and support of volunteers, ensuring effective communication.

Grant Research & Development

  • Identify and assess funding opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Build relationships with grant administrators to understand application requirements and timelines.
  • Support the preparation of grant proposals and reporting documents.

Stewardship

  • Answer donor inquiries via phone and email promptly.
  • Strengthen donor relationships through stewardship and engagement activities.
  • Issue charitable tax receipts and acknowledgements in compliance with CRA regulations.

  • has experience as a fundraiser;
  • is highly organized, detail-oriented, and a quick learner;
  • is an effective communicator both orally and written;
  • can work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • shows initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness;
  • is a strong problem-solver;
  • is passionate about helping others.
