Position Summary
ICS is seeking a highly organized and motivated Development Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the President and working closely with the Advancement Team, the Development Coordinator will support ICS’s mission by stewarding relationships with donors and alumni, managing our donor database, and strengthening our communication efforts. This is a full-time position based in Toronto, with the option for hybrid work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
- In collaboration with ICS’s Advancement Team, coordinate and execute the full annual schedule of appeals, donor communications, and stewardship activities.
- Support grant writing, foundation research, and reporting timelines in collaboration with leadership and faculty.
- Prepare accurate donation records, process gifts, issue tax receipts, and maintain timely donor acknowledgements.
- Develop and manage donor stewardship strategies, including personalized outreach, donor packages, and legacy giving initiatives.
- Assist with alumni relations, including targeted campaigns and opportunities for involvement in ICS initiatives.
- Represent ICS with professionalism and warmth in interactions with donors, partners, and the broader community.
Database & Financial Administration
- Oversee the donor database, ensuring data accuracy and segmentation for effective engagement.
- Maintain gift processing workflows, generate mailing lists and reports, and track campaign performance.
- Collaborate with ICS’s Finance Office to ensure timely reconciliation of donations, event revenues, and grant disbursements.
Communications & Marketing Support
- Contribute to donor-centered messaging across platforms, including newsletters, thank-you letters, and digital content.
- Support the ICS communications team in creating development-focused social media posts and web content.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, communications, fundraising, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a development, fundraising, or advancement role, preferably in a faith-based or academic setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of donor databases (e.g., Donor Perfect, Little Green Light, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and digital tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a donor-first approach to relationship building.
- Detail-oriented and adept at managing multiple timelines, with a high degree of initiative and discretion.
- Familiarity with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations related to charitable receipting and reporting.
- Support for the mission, values, and ecumenical spirit of ICS.
- Occasional evening or weekend availability required for event support.
