Jewish Family and Child Service is a multi-service, client-centered agency, and a Children’s Aid Society supporting the healthy development of individuals, children, and families. JF&CS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including dental, vision, and health coverage, a Healthcare Spending Account, and a defined benefit pension plan. The Development Officer will support the Development and Communications department in building community presence and resource development for the Agency.  The Development Officer will lead and organize projects and activities related to the annual campaign, major gifts solicitation, events, Emerging Leaders (Young Professional Volunteer Committee) and other fundraising and donor stewardship initiatives.


  • Identify, cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors at all giving levels.

  • Support the strategic direction for the Annual Campaign, including spring appeal, fall appeal, and reminders. (Timeline, stories, content, stats)

  • Ensure thank you letters for tax receipting is completed effectively and timely, this includes preparing the content for thank you letters.

  • Participate in stewardship initiatives, including regular contact with major donors, thank you calls and Donor Wall updates.

  • Lead stewardship initiatives for EchoAge, loyalty program and monthly giving program.

  • Prepare donor lists for Annual Report and Donor Wall.

  • Coordinate and maintain all Blackbaud products, including Raisers Edge and Net Community ensuring data integrity, relevance and accuracy.

  • Develop and analyze reports as requested.

  • Create online donation pages.

  • Liaise with colleagues for tax receipting and reporting, statistics and data as needed for fundraising materials.

  • Provide support and professional guidance to volunteer committees in the planning and execution of fundraising events.

  • Participate in the administration of third party events as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Significant knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge.

  • Degree or Diploma in fundraising/communications and/or related experience.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in fundraising.

  • Familiarity with GTA’s  Jewish community a definite asset.

  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.

  • High level of database skills and computer literacy.

  • Strong research skills.

  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be a team player with proven ability to work well with diverse groups of people including staff and volunteers.
