Development Officer, Partnerships

We are currently hiring a Development Officer, Partnerships who will report to the Director, Partnerships. This is a key role responsible for securing funding for Indspire events and programs. This position also manages and maintains excellent relationships with corporate sponsors and donors by ensuring that benefits are fulfilled and reported on to ensure increased levels of support and repeat/multi-year support from the corporate sector achieves Indspire’s mission and mandate.

 Fundraising 

  • Develops and implements an annual plan to secure corporate and foundation sponsors and donors.
  • Maintains an ongoing portfolio of approximately 100-125 sponsors, including new and existing; conducts a minimum of 20 face-to-face visits or calls per year with the goal of presenting a minimum of 30 proposals and closing a minimum of 15 major gifts per year (gifts over $25,000).
  • Secures a minimum of 9 to11 face-to-face or phone meetings monthly with donors and prospects to move them toward a major gift or sponsorship.
  • Works closely with the Director, Partnerships to support corporate and foundation fundraising strategies and the team to ensure maximum revenue is achieved from corporate and foundation prospects and donors.
  • Performs research to generate lists of new prospects and generate profiles, briefing notes, proposals/case for support and other solicitation materials.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards corporate sponsors and donors annually to achieve identified and agreed upon fundraising targets.
  • Maintains accurate, professional, and current records, actions, and reports.
  • Ensures that all corporate contacts in portfolio are updated and contacts are tracked in Indspire’s database.
  • Works closely with all departments to identify fundable opportunities and gains an in-depth understanding of Indspire programs in order to speak knowledgably about the work of Indspire to corporate prospects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of corporate fundraising trends through networking, research, and professional development.
  • Develops and maintains tools, templates, and resources to support corporate program growth.
  • Prepares and submits online funding application submissions for appropriate corporate solicitations in consultation with Development colleagues.
  • Works closely with supporters and prospects, along with other Development staff, to sell Indspire Awards and other event tables to potential supporters to ensure fundraising targets are achieved.
  • Collaborates with the Development team and other staff to identify and provide sponsor employee engagement and volunteer opportunities for Indspire programs and operations.
  • Generates and ensures the execution of sponsorship and gift agreements with supporters.

Corporate Relations and Stewardship

  • Tracks corporate donor and sponsor contact information in the database and manages timely sharing of supporter reports.
  • Ensures that corporate sponsors and prospects are invited to appropriate Indspire events and activities and attends events to promote Indspire’s programs and leverage these opportunities for corporate prospect identification, stewardship and cultivation.
  • Prepares correspondence to corporate sponsors and donors and responds to corporate sponsor or donor inquiries as required.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree plus a minimum of two years experience and success in corporate fundraising and stewardship in a non-profit fundraising department or similar environment.
  • A broad knowledge of corporate sponsorship and corporate social responsibility trends.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Indigenous communities strongly favoured.
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and willingness to engage in cultural competency training.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and administrative skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills to communicate effectively with corporate sponsors and donors to meet their needs.
  • Team player who takes initiative.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
  • Able to work and interact with a diversity of corporate donors, sponsors and prospects.
  • Able to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately with an attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS office suite, with advanced excel spreadsheet skills and knowledge of fundraising databases.
  • Prospect research skills and the ability to synthesize large quantities of information into simple briefing notes and reports for senior managers.
  • Ability to work in French is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Indigenous community is an asset.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends and possess a willingness to travel within Canada.
