The OMF is primarily focused on health equity and social determinants such as access to services, gender, and racism, among others, and how they affect individual and community health.

 

Job Summary

You will set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers’ interests, and cultivate relationships with donors, association members, and fellow employees. You will also ensure a strong public profile through events and communications.

You will be responsible for driving revenue and leading the growth of major gifts to meet and exceed revenue goals annually. You will keep donors informed on how their philanthropy is making a significant difference. You are a self-motivated, deadline-driven multitasker, with a keen eye on accountability and knowing how to ask for donations and leverage your board and the OMA in raising funds.

You will act as a champion of the One OMA brand to ensure alignment of the organization as a subsidiary towards a common purpose and outcome. You will ensure integration of efforts and strategies towards the goal of supporting Ontario’s doctors in the delivery of better health care.

 

You Will Make a Difference By

  • Soliciting financial support from corporations, foundations, and individuals that align with our mandate
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and liaison to the Board and subsequent committees on the scope and role of fundraising as it fits within clear governing principles
  • Strategically engage the Executive Team and Board Directors in prospect cultivation and solicitation.
  • Acting as lead on the Strategic Fundraising Plan and the subsequent working plan that supports the strategy
  • Monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators to provide status updates to the OMF Board of Directors and executive leadership. Maintaining relationships with existing sponsors, donors, partners, and key stakeholders
  • Building a strong prospect pipeline, cultivating relationships with prospects and donors whose philanthropic interests align with the organization’s fundraising priorities.
  • Managing the annual fundraising event
  • Generating development materials, such as grant proposals.
  • Leading a team of staff responsible for event planning, bursary program, data entry and gift processing
  • Working collaboratively with OMA departments that provide support to the OMF, such as finance and communications.

 

Requirements That Are Important to Us

  • 8-10 years fundraising experience, with at least 5+ years’ experience in major gift fundraising.
  • Strong record of securing gifts in the six-figure range
  • Powerful relationship builder with a network of contacts across high profile corporations and organizations.
  • Degree in business, non-profit management, or related field
  • CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) considered an asset
  • Proficient with sponsorship solicitation
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications and CRMs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff and engage colleagues to create collaborative impact.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant best practices in fundraising
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diverse giving vehicles
  • Strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management skills
  • Ability to focus in a fast-paced work environment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Able to travel, work weekends, and evenings, when required; valid driver’s license required

 

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
