Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Stewardship, the Director, Donor Relations is responsible for developing, monitoring and implementing central stewardship and engagement of donors at the $1-million plus level, including principal gift benefactors, in close collaboration with DUA and divisional colleagues. The incumbent plays a lead role in the delivery of programming for the Chancellors’ Circle of Benefactors, the University’s donor recognition society for its principal gift benefactors. In this capacity, the Director seeks to ensure that this cohort of donors receives expression of thanks and appreciation, including staging and optimizing gift announcement activities and milestone events , as well as opportunities to engage with University events, and with senior officers.
The incumbent will also be responsible for the stewardship correspondence, acknowledging and stewarding major gift donors, and for ongoing awards and honours nominations and celebrations.
Qualifications Required:
Education:
- University degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of eight years’ progressively responsible experience in Stewardship or equivalent professional experience; experience managing a team of professionals is essential.
- Solid administrative skills with significant expertise in project management and co-ordination and campaign experience preferred.
- Applicant must have the interpersonal and managerial skills to manage a complex stewardship program within the University environment.
- He or she will have a demonstrated ability to write persuasively as well as have extensive knowledge of fundraising and stewardship communications.
- In addition, the successful candidate must have excellent reporting and writing skills, analytical and marketing skills and knowledge and experience with digital media.
Skills:
- Computer literacy: Word processing, database software and spreadsheet programs, and proficiency with scheduling software, email and Internet applications.
- Working knowledge of design software is an advantage.
