
Director, Fundraising and Communications
Position: Director of Fundraising and Communications
LFBS is seeking an experienced fundraiser with more than 3 years’ experience to join our team. In this role, you will use your expert communication skills, demonstrate initiative to identify and implement fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with existing and potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events and speaking engagements, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, you will apply your speaking, writing, and leadership abilities to move our non-profit closer to its financial goals in support of our mission.
The ideal candidate believes in our vision and mission in child protection and reunification and will demonstrate exceptional drive to tell our story to further our existing fundraising efforts and help strategize and deliver new ones.
Objectives of this Role
- Create and execute a multi-year Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Plan to promote awareness of and advance the mission and work of LFBS
- Manage all marketing materials, website updates, and social media presence on behalf of LFBS using a strong brand strategy across all platforms and materials to tell our story
- Develop and execute the fundraising strategy of LFBS
- Create and implement a multi-year Fundraising Plan, ensuring that overall key performance indicators and revenue targets are achieved
- Establish healthy and diversified revenue streams to provide funding stability
- Plan, develop and coordinate various fundraising campaigns with the support of volunteers
- Lead grant research and writing
- Identify and qualify major and planned giving donors and prospects
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
- Develop and maintain donor recognition and stewardship programs ensuring donors are thanked appropriately; form strong relationships with external stakeholders
- Select and implement a Donor Management System for LFBS to provide for effectiveness and efficiencies in day-to-day operations and data management
- Oversee and provide management reports on departmental performance; monitors budgets for income and expenses related to donor and fundraising programs
- Provide leadership in evaluating programs and making recommendations, as required
- Develop strong relationships with fundraising program volunteers ensuring they are engaged, informed and recognized for their contributions
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or degree preferably in Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and leadership in a not-for-profit setting
- 3-5 years fundraising experience is required, with international development experience preferred
- CFRE designation and membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals an asset
- Demonstrated ability to engage, cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors and to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers
- Proven ability to secure major and planned gifts
- Self-motivated, high energy, results oriented with the drive to exceed expectations
- Strong time management and demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and listening skills
- Detail oriented, strong organizational, research and analytical skills
- Proven proposal writing and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS office suite of products
- Experience in selecting, implementing and maintaining a donor management system an asset
