Director of Development, The Image Centre & Public Realm
The Image Centre generates revenue from both government and private sources. The Director of Development, The Image Centre & Public Realm is responsible for raising major and principal gift support toward The Image Centre’s highest priorities, building, stewarding and maintaining enduring relationships with major and principal gift prospects / donors over their lifetime; maximizing the inherent potential in those relationships.
The Director of Development works closely with the Director of The Image Centre to facilitate planning and implementation of strategies required to achieve success in soliciting major and transformational gifts in support of The Image Centre as well as funding from all levels of government including local, provincial and federal agencies.
The Director of Development is a member of the Public Art Committee and is responsible for fundraising for public art initiatives on the Toronto Metropolitan University campus.
The Director of Development, The Image Centre and Public Realm position is two-fold: They are responsible for both The Image Centre and Public Art initiatives on campus. The approximate breakdown of time for each role is 75% for IMC and 25% engagement for public art. The DoD supports the Director of The Image Centre in both roles. The Director of IMC is also Chair of the Public Art Committee.
Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;
- Five to Seven (5-7) years’ experience of progressively responsible fundraising and development management. Experience in an educational environment or arts related organization.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement major gift strategic planning and solicitation strategies; successful track record in raising gifts of $1M+
- Demonstrated writing skills, specifically in the area of proposal writing;
- A flexible schedule, which allows for after-hours events and meetings.
- Basic familiarity and appreciation of the mission, purpose and values of The Image Centre.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with funding sources outside of Canada advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement major and principal gift strategic planning and solicitation strategies;
- Proven ability to think strategically and work independently in driving new initiatives and enhancing existing programs and be able to effectively articulate these initiatives
- Working knowledge of complex information systems, prospect tracking, research, tax laws, basic financial planning and deferred giving programs;
- Demonstrated experience managing volunteers and volunteer programs;
- Must have demonstrated understanding of the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels;
- Demonstrated writing skills, specifically in the area of proposal writing;
- Proficiency in the use of a Windows based database as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
