Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC) is situated on the traditional territories of the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, who have been the traditional caretakers of this land for thousands of years. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and Peoples, Europeans and all newcomers have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect. Organizational Overview
Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC) is a registered charity that provides a range of services to children, youth and families, who have experienced abuse or violence, with offices in Toronto, Barrie and Peterborough. We provide individual, group, family and community services that include trauma assessment, counselling, and therapy, advocacy and support services during child abuse investigations, court support and accompaniment services and abuse and violence prevention materials and trainings. Boost CYAC is accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, an independent non-profit organization that offers accreditation specifically tailored to community-based health and social services across Canada.
Position Overview
Reporting to the President & CEO, Boost CYAC is seeking a permanent full time Director of Fund Development, to oversee the development, management and implementation of Boost CYAC’s fund development strategy.

- A university degree or college diploma with a program focus on Fundraising, Not-For-Profit Management, Marketing, or other transferable disciplines. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) professional designation (or in progress) required.
- Minimum of five (5) years senior management experience in fund development with a proven track record of working with senior executives, Board members and volunteers, soliciting and closing major gifts private donors and investors, businesses and corporations at the five figure level and above.
- High-energy, results-oriented, process driven professional with proven experience leading a team and a broad understanding of the Child & Youth Advocacy Model and fundraising needs associated with children mental health and trauma services.
- Excellent interpersonal and relational skills, and demonstrated ability to work with donors, funders, volunteers, staff and Board of Directors, ideally in a non-for-profit setting.
- A professional presence and capability to exercise independent judgement, initiative and flexibility.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and experience applying anti-oppressive practices in the workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, work proactively, manage competing priorities and demonstrate effective follow through in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster effective and responsive communication with donors and cultivate and build lasting donor relationships.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office software, demonstrated knowledge of Donor Perfect, Gift tools, Constant Contact, Adobe Pro, and WordPress (Divi).
- Awareness of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and the Federal Income Tax Act regarding charitable donations and sponsorship.
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write effectively and persuasively.
- Maintain a high degree of motivation and strong work ethic consistent with the employment philosophy of Boost CYAC.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of a multi-year fundraising strategy including major gifts, annual giving and other strategies and an implementation plan to grow annual fundraising.
- Work closely with co-chairs of the Boost CYAC Fundraising Advisory Board to develop and implement funding raising events.
- Engage, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio primarily consisting of individual prospect donors through events.
- Engage with, and professionally support, senior staff and volunteers in major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.
- Develop an annual fundraising plan; forecast and track annual department budget; drive best practices for pipeline prospecting, management, reporting and tracking for major gifts.
- Lead the planning and implementation of Boost CYAC’s funding raising events; peer-to-peer fundraising such as the Toronto Polar Bear Dip, marathons/walk-a-thons, EchoAge; and other third party events.
- Foster and secure corporate sponsorships including valuation, activation budgeting, soliciting and confirming agreements.
- Maintain accurate, professional records, actions and reports and oversee administration of donor management databases. Experience using Donor Perfect is considered an asset.
- Manage charity profiles with donor directed funds, such as Benevity, Gift Funds, Benefaction, Canada Helps.
- Oversee external communication needs related to funding raising events and initiatives.
- Participate actively as a member of the Leadership Team, collaborate with Board of Directors, Co-chair Board sub-committees for revenue generation, communications and government relations.
- Work proactively to build a culture of philanthropy and forge strong commitments and ties to the community, building awareness of the position and its role within the organization.
- Contribute to ongoing development, evaluations, accreditation requirements and quality improvements within the department and organization.
- Support a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion, encourages teamwork and complies with all the applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

Work Schedule
- Thirty-five (35) hours per week.
- Evening and weekend shifts as required.
- Flexible working hours, with some remote work possible.
