DONOR RELATIONS OFFICER

The Division of Advancement’s mission is to inspire and cultivate meaningful engagement and philanthropic support to advance York University’s excellence in education, research, and community service. We accomplish our mission through our values of accountability, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Our division is comprised of four departments:
– Donor Relations & Stewardship leads efforts to secure principal giving and is responsible for the full scope of activities related to donor relations, including stewardship and recognition.
– Advancement Services and Operations – leads efforts to support the Development and Alumni Engagement teams.
– Development – leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, parents, and friends.
– Alumni Engagement leads efforts to provide programs and services to over 350,000 York alumni worldwide. Under the direction of the Manager, Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Officer supports the Division’s mission by supporting donor relations through stewardship and recognition at York University. The Donor Relations Officer works directly with donors and through Advancement staff, including senior Advancement staff, to provide stewardship and recognition to donors. The purpose of this role is to nurture affinity through stewardship to cultivate donors’ continued support of York University.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
College Diploma in fundraising, business, finance, commerce, public relations, business administration, or similar fields or an equivalent of two years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Knowledge and awareness of current and future trends related to donor stewardship, university policies and protocols and fundraising professional standards and ethics is required.
At least three years of recent work experience in professional fundraising field including donor or stakeholder relationships. Experience required includes reading and analysing endowment financial reports and other financial statements and developing, implementing, and evaluating donor recognition plans, preparing donor financial and impact reports. Proven track record of successful donor relations including the implementation of recognition opportunities and direct stewardship of major gifts and annual and planned giving donors
