The Organization

BOLT was launched by Tridel in 2009 and established as a charitable foundation on January 1st, 2013. It started as a simple concept – to provide awareness and learning opportunities for youth associated with The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto to the field of construction. By establishing additional community, government and industry partnerships, BOLT has since expanded to reach an even broader range of youth.

Today, BOLT connects under-resourced youth in the Greater Toronto Area to construction careers and meaningful and rewarding employment through raised awareness, immersive career exploration, financial support for post-secondary and skilled training programs, and industry partnerships.

To date, BOLT has awarded more than 540 scholarships to post-secondary students and helped more than 250 youth start their apprenticeships in the construction skilled trades.

Mission

BOLT’s mission is to connect job-ready, under-resourced youth aged 17 to 29 to careers in construction by providing access and support for skills training and financial awards for post-secondary programs related to construction.

Goals & Objectives

To raise awareness and offer exposure to the diverse career opportunities in the construction industry by hosting SpeakOuts, Days of Discovery and Job Shadowing.

To raise funds to offer financial assistance to under-resourced youth wishing to pursue training or a post-secondary education leading to a career in construction.

To foster trade and industry partnerships to provide employment, training and mentorship opportunities for youth, and to secure the support of community and government partnerships required for the success of the program.

The Opportunity

BOLT has an exceptional opportunity for a passionate professional who will oversee programming and fundraising activities and ensure the effective day-to-day operations of the Foundation. The Executive Director will participate in all program delivery and oversee the tracking and reporting of metrics for each program. Additionally, The Executive Director is the lead professional staff responsible for planning, implementing and managing campaigns, strategic partnerships as well as events to generate funds. Reporting directly to the BOLT Board of Directors, the ED directly manages a Coordinator and works closely with Tridel staff and volunteers to help with the delivery of programs and fundraising activities.

Key Qualifications

  • A collaborative, open, flexible, approachable leadership style. Exceptional relationship building skills including a strong ability to bring together and meaningfully engage diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • A self-starter. Adept at organizing and managing multiple ongoing projects, professional and business issues in a fast-changing environment.
