Fundraising Consultant
Contract, July, 2022 – June 2023
St. Michael’s Homes is an addiction and mental health service based in Toronto. We are seeking a Fundraising Consultant to work with our Executive Director, administrative staff and Board to develop and enhance our fundraising capacity, develop and support the implementation of a fundraising plan, and broaden our fundraising activities to achieve a consistent and high level of fundraising to support our programs.
Statement of Work
The Fundraising Consultant will:
- Develop, plan and initiate a fundraising and communications strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
- Develop an annual fundraising plan that can be continued and sustained by organization fundraising staff in future years
- Develop a strategy for donor base growth, including analyzing new funding sources, new donors, and new network-building opportunities
- Identify funding strategies to achieve organization goals
- Work with management to support the assessment and development of a range of fundraising activities
- Evaluate existing fundraising activities and provide recommendations for future development
- Plan, implement and manage fundraising activities during this year
- Work with administrative staff to create and maintain electronic tracking for all fundraising activities
Skills and experience
- Proven experience in communications and proposal writing
- Proven track record in managing fundraising campaigns
- Expert in planning and execution of fundraising campaigns
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build excellent working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, suppliers
- Advanced communication skills, including active listening skills and excellent fundraising copywriting
- Excellent command of English written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Ability to review priorities, meet deadlines and identify problems and resolutions
- Proficient skills and experience in working on MS Office
