About the Role:
As part of the Kerry’s Place Autism Services management team, the Fundraising Manager is responsible for: leadership, resource management, revenue generation, and engaging supporters and community members in fundraising activities that will support and enhance the vision and mission of Kerry’s Place.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
- Through actions, supports the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of Kerry’s Place.
- Review and adhere to all Policies and Procedures, including: Finance & Administration; Services & Supports; Human Resources; Health & Safety, and all other.
- Adheres to manager responsibilities for Health & Safety as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
- Adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights, and engages in ethical decision making in all fundraising endeavors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Leadership and Supervision
- Motivate, provide stewardship, and recognize volunteers and committee members to ensure their engagement is optimized.
- Be a consistent face and voice for Kerry’s Place in the community, engaging the senior team and staff where appropriate.
- Provide stewardship of major donors and corporate sponsors in collaboration with the leadership team.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, recruit appropriate staff and volunteers for various fundraising initiatives.
- Chair committee meetings, ensure minutes are distributed and stakeholders are updated, as well as participate in both internal and external committees and task forces as needed.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, training and performance management of staff who report to the Fundraising Manager, completing performance development plans on an annual basis.
- Remain current with all related legislative requirements such as: Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, etc.
Resource Management
- Comply with Canada Revenue Agency regulations for Charities and related filings.
- Develop and report against annual fundraising budgets, and maintain operations within budget including authorization of expenditures as per Finance policy.
- Collaborate with the Finance Department to manage donations and adhere to appropriate recording and receipting of gifts.
Planning and Donor Management
- Launch and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program, including Major Gifts (including Private and Public Foundations), Planned Giving, Direct Response (may include monthly giving, direct mail and online), Community Events and Special Events, including working one-on-one with 3rd party vendors where appropriate.
- Conduct foundation research for potential granting opportunities and support composition requests.
- Assist in laying the groundwork for a comprehensive Capital effort to take place in the coming 1-3 years.
- Act as point of contact for third party community events working one-on-one with vendors where appropriate, ensuring they receive timely communication and have resources available to increase funds.
- Develop, collaborate and maintain positive relationships with donors, families, partner agencies, volunteers, government employees and the community.
- Regularly deliver effective communication to donors and internal contacts with diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Compose donor acknowledgement letters to ensure appropriate recognition is provided.
- Evaluate the need for and potentially launch a donor recognition program.
- Research new potential sponsors and donors.
- Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Manager to design promotional material , share positive outcomes, ensure the website is current and is easily navigated by supporters regarding fundraising content, and ensure that the use of social media channels is built into any/all plans.
Quality Assurance Measures
- Ensure professional and thorough records are maintained for an accurate and current donor database, and provide recommendations for increased efficiency.
- Seek ongoing education in donor trends, best practices, methods of giving, and other opportunities for strategic donor growth.
- Apply a continuous improvement approach to processes and reports to provide insights into Kerry’s Place operations, opportunities and challenges.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- University Degree.
- CFRE Required.
Knowledge and Experience
- 5 years of experience in Fundraising.
- Strong knowledge of charitable organizations.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing supportive, collaborative and high performing teams.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, and fundraising software such a Donor Perfect or Raiser’s Edge.
- Working knowledge of related legislation and regulations such as: Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, etc.
- Financial record keeping experience and knowledge of budgeting is an asset.
- French language is an asset.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Position requires flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
- A personal vehicle is required for frequent business travel, as well as a valid G2 license, and proof of third party liability insurance coverage.

Conditions of Employment:
This position will require flexibility in the work schedule as evening and/or weekend initiatives may require support. The Fundraising Manager will proactively manage work schedules in order to meet these commitments without incurring additional time worked, whenever possible.
