The incumbent will be the day-to-day lead on the Cross Play charity gaming/streaming program, a significant new engagement and fundraising program for Canadian Red Cross (CRC). The incumbent will be an experienced fundraising program manager, will have a strong connection to gaming/creator space and will thrive managing and working as part of a cross-functional team in a large matrix organization. Previous relationship management and fundraising experience will be a major asset.
In this role, you will:
Responsibility 1 – Strategic and Operational Planning
- Continually evaluate and as necessary refine Cross Play strategy, tactics and activities to ensure smooth progress toward program vision and objectives
- Play a lead role in developing the growth and expansion strategy of Cross Play, in alignment with Philanthropy team strategic objectives
- Lead the development of CRC-owned streaming event(s) and/or signature event.
Responsibility 2 – Lead Generation, Recruitment, Relationship-building, Fundraising and Stewardship
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive lead generation plan including paid digital to ensure adequate leads for program
- Building and maintaining relationships with a portfolio of creators, gaming partners, communities and corporate partners
- Overseeing Cross Play community building efforts and responsible for overall management of associated socials (ie Discord, Twitch, X etc)
- Assist in recruiting and managing Ambassador Committees to help grow CRC reach and presence in gaming community.
- Recruiting participants for CRC gaming and creator events, from leads and from established relationships
- Develop and implement strategies to support creators to effectively fundraise for CRC
- Ensure creators and donors are effectively stewarded to empower them to become long-term supporters
Responsibility 3. People Management
- Provide direct supervision to the Specialist, Gaming role
- Provide leadership to direct report through coaching, identifying mentoring, training and development opportunities, and performance management.
- Facilitate and enhance a high-performing professional CrossPlay team
- Ensure team efforts are consistent and aligned with CE/Philanthropy objectives and the fundamental principles of the Red Cross
Responsibility 4 – Program Management
- Managing financials, reporting, revenue and expenses, adherence to CRC governance processes
- Inputting to overall project plan and ensuring adherence to agreed plan
- Manage third-party vendors in the execution of 3rd party and signature streaming events.
- Develop marketing strategies and materials in collaboration with CRCs internal support teams and agency partners
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) internally to CRC staff (about gaming) and externally to creators (about CRC).
- Key Ambassador for the gaming program within Canadian Red Cross
What we are looking for:
- An effective fundraising program manager
- 5+ years of successful digital fundraising experience, including live-stream events
- Experience managing all aspects of a start-up program
- Comfortable operating within a large, diverse matrix organization AND the gaming space
- A gamer and/or creator with a passion for the community and industry.
- A deep understanding of the gaming community, industry, history and culture.
- Experience building and managing online communities
- A team player who values an environment of open communication and collaboration
- Management experience with the ability to coach, mentor and develop a team
- Ability and willingness to evangelize the gaming program within Canadian Red Cross, help ‘educate’ colleagues and the larger organization on gaming
- Understanding of digital marketing and familiar with gaming platforms & services, especially where they intersect with streaming and charitable giving (Twitch, Tiltify, etc)
- Able to demonstrate success in achieving financial targets through managing relationships and securing support for fundraising initiatives
- Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
- Working knowledge of CRM (Blackbaud) is an asset
