Due to COVID-19 Guidelines, this role involves remote / work from home with a requirement for a minimum of two (2) days per week working in the office and may be subject to change as the organization works through its hybrid workforce plan, and/or changing needs of the Foundation. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. CAMH Foundation is charged with raising and stewarding funds in support of CAMH. Its role is to help transform the way we understand and address mental illness by raising awareness and increasing engagement across the country. The Direct & Digital Fundraising team is responsible for ensuring our unrestricted revenue stream of funds grows over time – we have clear goals and an open mind on how to achieve them. THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Manager, Annual Giving is responsible for building and executing a comprehensive direct marketing program to secure support from the existing mass base donors (one-time, monthly, lapsed and mid-level). The focus of this role will be on the donor and integrating the right offer or product for their journey with CAMH with a specific focus on retaining and renewing existing donors. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Direct & Digital Fundraising this role will create opportunities for all mass base donor segments to engage with CAMH utilizing a variety direct marketing channels including direct mail, email, telemarketing, etc. The role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners, who will often be implementing our fundraising tactics. This position will lead tactics designed to increase revenue through retaining and renewing our existing donors, and strengthen the pipeline of donors across other segments.

It is important that you are a team player and collaborator with a passion for mental health, are comfortable navigating a complex organization with a wide range of stakeholders, and are keen on renewing, retaining and upgrading existing donors by using tried and tested fundraising methods as well as new channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Senior Manager, Direct & Digital Fundraising in developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet the organization’s financial goals and objectives through a multichannel approach including telemarketing, digital campaigns, email, direct mail, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Manager, Direct & Digital Fundraising and cross-functional segment leads to set growth targets and focus on meeting financial targets and increasing donor retention, reactivating lapsed donors and upgrading existing donors
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors across the mass base segment to ensure they are effectively moved through the donor cultivation cycle
  • Maintain and continually improve processes for a comprehensive direct marketing program, including special appeals to achieve key goals. Manage its execution including supervision and management of all program logistics, message development, segmentation and data manipulation.
  • With the team and external partners, develop and execute campaign collateral, including direct mail, email marketing, telemarketing, microsites and digital tools, and related digital creative; ensuring effective project management, timely delivery and insightful reporting and evaluation.
  • Manage overall delivery of multi-channel activities within your portfolio; manage project timelines, schedules and task lists and play an important part in project execution from start to finish.
  • Maintain a deep and current understanding of product/segment goals, strategies and results within your portfolio.
  • Identify fundraising progress and report revenue, expenses, and ROI.
  • Support Senior Manager, Direct & Digital Fundraising in developing and managing annual campaign budgets and track, process, and coordinate payments for associated expenses.
  • Manage key vendor relationships with Direct Mail and Telemarketing fundraising service providers to ensure programs are on track and recommend solutions to maximize campaigns
  • In collaboration with the brand and stewardship teams, and working with vendors as needed, develop meaningful campaigns with the goal of retaining, renewing, and upgrading existing donors.
  • Collaborate with the brand and communications team to develop compelling fundraising materials and content across the initiatives and channels in the annual giving portfolio that are in harmony with brand campaign.
  • Work as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment and conduct role with integrity and respect.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • 5+ years of directly related fundraising /digital marketing experience; with a strong focus on annual giving; direct experience with managing mid-level programs is an asset
  • A sophisticated grasp of direct marketing techniques and related methods for building and sustaining annual support
  • Experience in a complex not-for-profit organization, preferably a healthcare organization
  • Proven track record of managing complex fundraising programs and associated budgets
  • An ability to work with information systems and databases to fully exploit the use of segmentation for solicitations and to interpret data in order to determine effectiveness of current strategy and determine future action
  • An ability to effectively communicate data-driven results and put forward recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-channel fundraising initiatives in a multi-stakeholder complex environment, that drive fundraising goals and engage donors
  • Ability to develop and manage complex, tactical multi-channel strategies, understand strategic directions, programs and issues to help advise program area and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, executing and measuring successful multichannel direct response marketing campaigns with an innovation and test and learn orientation, with an emphasis on retention and renewals
  • Skilled project manager; experienced working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of data, segmentation and fundraising best practices
  • Data mining and analysis and adjustments to approaches and plans based on findings.
  • Expertise in non-profit online fundraising and CRM software and tools, such as Blackbaud (Convio) Luminate Online and TeamRaiser, including an understanding of HTML 5 and CSS, would be strongly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent organization, planning and time management skills and exacting attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze trends from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent written and oral communications, including a strong understanding of best practices for writing for digital (email / web) and direct mail
  • Experience providing a work environment that embraces diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
