Position Summary
As a key member of the Communications, Events & Donor Engagement team, the Manager is responsible and accountable for the development, execution, and growth of the Foundation’s events programs. The Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Foundation’s Signature events program including planning, budgeting, communications, committee management, sponsorship activation and evaluation, as well as working in collaboration with the Development Team leads to meet event sales and sponsorship goals. A focus of this role is also on relationship building with sponsors, committee development, and stewardship. The Manager also plans and executes cultivation and recognition events and other fundraising initiatives as required.

Key Responsibilities
Signature Events: 40%
· Develop and execute yearly business and marketing plans for the Signature Events Program
· Develop budgets (in collaboration with the Development and Finance Team); monitor program revenues and expenses to ensure they remain within budget and make recommendations for changes to enhance ROI
· Oversee the Coordinator, Events who is responsible for all aspects of event coordination, logistics, on-site execution, supplier relationships, marketing support, and committee meeting communication and preparation, updating Raiser’s Edge etc.
· Lead on-site production schedule for signature events including HRHF staff and volunteer schedules
· Develop creative and custom on-site sponsorship opportunities, and unique guest experiences
· In collaboration with the Development Team leads, develop new, compelling and customized sponsorship opportunities and benefits unique to each event property
· Work in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team to provide direction on sponsor and attendee communications (pre & post event), event signage needs and other marketing support as required
· Work in collaboration with VP, Communications & Donor Engagement to determine fundraising goals, program or equipment funds will be supporting as well as identifying speakers/hosts
Strategy Development: 20%
· In collaboration with the VP, develop objectives, strategies and metrics that ensure continued growth and innovation of the signature and partnership events program
· Work with the VPs and CEO on the assessment of the current event portfolio, development of new event revenue opportunities to ensure long term revenue growth and sustainability.
· Work with consultants as required to assess current event portfolio, explore new signature event opportunities, and strategic recommendations for future sustainability
Stewardship, Volunteers and Relationship Management: 20%
· Build relationships with committee members to provide sales support, and gather feedback as required for event development and implementation
· Liaise with committee members and event chairs to provide event updates as they come and supporting material they require including request letters and custom packages
· Prepare event committee meeting materials and lead committee meetings with committee chair. Provide timely customer service and support to sponsors and committee members, and oversee the implementation of corporate sponsor fulfilment and recognition
· Ensure that systems and processes are in place to provide superior customer service to both internal and external stakeholders including participants/attendees, sponsors, suppliers, volunteers and staff
Foundation Events: 20%
· Provides event direction, development and implementation for Foundation cultivation and donor engagement events as required including unique guest experiences, data requirements, invitations, RSVPs, participant registration, room layout, venue and catering requirements, technical requirements, décor, signage, raffle requirements, volunteers, auction items, collection and reconciliation of payments and thank you letters
· Provides event direction, development and implementation for giving circle initiatives WINK and RiPL to create unique guests experiences and support revenue growth, volunteer engagement and ongoing recruitment
· Provides guidance and support for larger scale third party events as required
Skills/Knowledge:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Post-Secondary education in fundraising preferable. Working toward a CFRE designation or membership in AFP an asset
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
· Excellent administrative skills including solid working experience using relevant technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, the Internet and fundraising software
· Ability to manage multiple priorities enhanced by problem solving capabilities
· Strong customer service oriented approach complemented by excellent organizational and time management abilities
· Ability to use sound judgment and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
· A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred
· Ability to build rapport with peers, donors, volunteers, and the public with diplomacy, discretion and customer-service orientation
· Ability to think strategically in how to improve and streamline processes
Related Experience:
· 5+ years progressive experience in the Sponsorship and Events field with demonstrated success in this area
· Proven leadership and staff management skills
· Experience in working with external stakeholders/vendors in negotiating costs to align with the approved budget and to ensure overall goal is met.
· Experience in motivating and working with senior volunteers
· Experience using fundraising software such as Raiser’s Edge
Note: Flexibility is required as this position will be required to work some weekends and evenings.
