Position Overview
The Manager, Events and Community Development, is an essential role with a high-energy team environment at an ambitious Canadian non-profit. The Officer is an integral part of PCC’s dynamic fund development team, who support bold efforts to raise the survival rate of this devastating disease.
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Events and Community Development, the Manager is responsible for the growth and expansion of a diverse portfolio of fundraising events nationwide. Pre-pandemic, events played a critical role in PCC’s success, both from a fundraising and community engagement perspective. Despite the change in landscape, and the addition of virtual formats for many events, there remains an important place for both in-person and virtual events in PCC’s future.
The Manager will plan and execute a wide variety of PCC-run events, several with aggressive expansion goals over the next two years. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for building relationships with third party event organizers to maximize engagement from this dedicated and diverse community. The Manager will assist the broader development team with stewardship and relationship management activities and play a role in business development initiatives resulting from event organizers, participants, and sponsors.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Working closely with the Senior Manager, Events and Community Development, is responsible for the growth and development of PCC’s annual signature events with the goal of maximizing revenue; oversees all aspects of events from planning to execution. Signature events encompasses both peer to peer and partnership fundraising models, and includes running and cycling events, golf tournaments, cocktail receptions, and gala style fundraisers
- Works directly to steward contacts, participants, and Ensures sponsor fulfillment for events
- Builds relationships with and provides support to large and small third party fundraisers to deepen their connection to the organization and mission
- Analyzes third party events portfolio and provides recommendations for growth
- Oversees sales, tax receipting and financial reconciliation processes
Requirements:
- University Degree or Community College Diploma with 3 – 5 years of experience in a non-profit, events-based environment
- A valid Class G driver’s license is required
- Experience using Blackbaud products, including Luminate and Raiser’s Edge in an event-related capacity
- Proven event planning and logistics skills
- Knowledge of sponsorship processes
- Excellent client relationship management skills
- Organized with high attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure, professional environment
- Self-starter with ability to deal independently with external clients
- Ability to balance multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Special Considerations:
- Required to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Physical demands of special events including packing, lifting carrying and loading
- Constraints of weather elements at sites during special events
- Travel within North America may be required

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
