Manager, Individual Giving

JUMP Math is embarking on an expansion of its programs to solicit support from individuals through campaigns to increase of single and monthly donors to support the vision and mission of the organization.

Reporting to the VP of Development, this role is responsible to plan, design, implement, evaluate, and optimize all components of an Annual Giving program in partnership with trusted external vendor(s), with the objective of acquiring, retaining, upgrading a broad and diverse individual donor base, and growing overall portfolio of revenue while maintaining an acceptable return on investment. The Manager, Individual Giving designs, builds and executes annual broad-based giving fundraising programs that engage donors and raise funds to support JUMP Math’s programs to achieve its vision, mission and strategic growth plans. As part of a small development team, the position will focus on individuals normally giving below $5k and will include direct mail, e-solicitations, tribute and monthly giving, as well as third party fundraising and other donor engagement initiatives.

The role will ensure an excellent donor experience for individual donors giving $1-$4,999 across all channels to encourage retention and renewal of gifts to support JUMP Math. The Manager, Individual Giving will also create reporting to monitor progress of the Annual Giving program and recommend investments and strategies to grow the program over time and reach or exceed annual revenue targets. The role will also ensure alignment and consistency in cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and tracking of this donor group in JUMP Math’s database and across all channels including mail, digital, phone, etc.

This is a full-time role and may be fully remote anywhere in Canada.

Target Salary Range: $75K-$85K plus benefits

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Manages and motivates direct reports as well as builds strong relationships with donors and prospects above $1K through meetings, phone calls, speaking at public events to ensure their continued support.

Strategy and Planning: Working closely with JUMP Math colleagues and vendors/agencies develop strategies and plans for annual giving programs to raise funds to support JUMP Math programs and initiatives.

Donor Acquisition and Retention: Working closely with the Development, Marketing and Communications teams with support from external vendors to acquire, retain and renew single and monthly gift donors through multiple channels (including direct mail, online ads, emails, telephone, in-house solicitations, third-party events, etc.) to reach annual revenue goals.

Reporting and Campaign Management: Develop and monitor budget and campaigns/program performance, revenue, expenses, and return on investment. Make recommendations to optimize program results based on insights and analysis, segmentation reports, and giving patterns.

Donor Acknowledgement, Recognition and Stewardship: Ensure timely and accurate donor acknowledgements, thank you letters and stewardship communications as required. Facilitate the processes and systems to ensure donor tax receipts and online systems are best practice and that donors are informed of key achievements and impact of JUMP Math.

 

Administration: Ensures effective systems are built and operating to manage all $1-4,999 donor database records effectively; manages a pipeline of leadership gifts ($1k+) and generates reports and queries from the database, including donor segmentation, as needed. Oversees the effective management of online giving tools, including third-party donation platforms such as CanadaHelps, Benevity.com, Frontstream/Panorama, etc.

Evidence-Based Decision Making/Data Analysis: Draws insightful conclusions from data with tools such as spreadsheets, email marketing data, etc. Assesses situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions that are timely and in JUMP Math’s best interests.

Sector Knowledge and Opportunities for Growth: Stays current on broad-based giving programs, trends and opportunities in the market to ensure JUMP Math’s philanthropic support continues to grow.

Skills:

  • Previous experience using MS Office 365 (Word, Power Point, Excel, Sharepoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Some previous experience with Customer Relationship Management software applications (such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge), and/or other fundraising donor database tools, etc.
  • Experience working with and managing external vendors
  • Ability to use sound judgment and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong customer service orientation complemented by excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Qualifications (minimums):

  • Five (5) years of successful work experience in the charity sector, plus a post-secondary degree or diploma; or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years as a direct response marketing fundraiser, leading integrated fundraising campaigns – digital, print, and phone. Experience developing annual giving strategies and managing direct response marketing programs.
  • Previous experience working with digital fundraising tools and methods is an asset.
