Introduction:

The successful candidate will be an active and experienced fundraiser and ensure Evergreen’s Development team has the right integrated suite of tools and reporting for revenue generation and supporter relationship management. They enjoy a unique blend of internal and external fundraising roles, and like working with people and technology. They will have a hand in direct fundraising by increasing our mid-level donors (focus on donors $1,000-$10,000 annually) and heading our stewardship strategy.

The successful candidate will have fundraising experience (ideally with growing responsibility related to mass/annual appeals), database knowledge and ability to analyze and report on data, and communication and project management skills. Importantly, they will help manage Evergreen’s transition to a new CRM platform. It’s an exciting time to be fundraising at Evergreen and this manager will be vital in our team’s success.

About the Role:

This manager role will oversee the Development Team’s vital systems and contribute to our fundraising at the mid and community donor levels. The manager will work across the Development team and with other teams, especially Marketing & Communications and IT, external partners and agencies, and senior leaders. This role will also support and provide input to Evergreen’s Marketing & Communications team on mass appeals. This role has people management as they will lead those responsible for core Development functions, including database management and reporting and analytics, stewardship, donor and prospect research, gift processing and data integrity and security.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Stewardship

  • Develop and execute strategies to raise funds for more mid-level and monthly donors.
  • Support community level mass giving strategy, led by Marketing & Communications, that integrates a number of different channels, including but not limited to digital lead acquisition, email, geotargeting, direct mail, in person, and telephone interactions.
  • Oversee third party fundraising relationships, renewals and associated tasks.
  • Manage external agencies as needed.
  • Help identify donor prospects through the pipeline process, and by using prospect research and other related services.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to design and execute stewardship events and reports that have a community-centric lens and are in line with Evergreen frameworks and policies.
  • Ensure accurate activity tracking comprehensively documented in our CRM.
  • Represent Evergreen at fundraising and other public awareness events, acting as a brand ambassador and inspiring others around our Purpose and Promise.
  • Provide fundraising support to senior leaders as needed in times of heavy activity.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the individual giving program by analyzing market opportunities and donor trends.

Fundraising Operations Oversight

  • Oversee development and maintenance of dashboards and other reports to show accurate data on funding pipeline, actions and other KPIs.
  • Support Director of Fundraising with data needed for key decisions.
  • Ensure all Development critical systems are running smoothly and efficiently – e.g. FundraiseUp, CRM, Goodkind. Suggest process improvements where needed.
  • Support the preparation, implementation, and post-implementation activities of migration to new CRM system in collaboration with Fundraising Operations & Data Lead, IT team, and an external consultant.
  • Manage gift entry and data flow (either in house or through a 3rd party support agency), and requests for reports and analyses, including monthly reconciliation with Finance team.
  • Manage vendor relationships with respect to fundraising platforms, data entry, Goodkind, and other types of services and consultants used to improve Development’s workflow, revenue generation, and data processing.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT and Finance teams on all of the above.

Team Leadership

  • Support annual planning and strategy setting for your team and give input to Development’s department plans.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, coaching, motivation, and retention of team staff, ensuring they have a clear, common vision, and have the support needed to measure and reach their goals.
  • Provide supervision to, and work in collaboration with reports to reach team and individual goals. Lead work planning and performance evaluation/feedback process for your team.

You have the following qualifications:

  • Diploma/bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, management, business or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years’ progressive experience in fundraising, especially experience in annual/mass giving and mid-level giving.
  • Understanding of and interest in using Community Centric Fundraising principles.
  • Understanding of donor stewardship and Moves Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and able to develop coherent, inspiring proposals .
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce (or other donor CRM), and other platforms such as GoodKind, FundraiseUp, and Wrike.
  • Experience in multiple areas of fundraising an asset.
  • A familiarity with placemaking and urban sustainability issues an asset.

 Working Conditions:

  • Position is based out of Evergreen’s head office at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto.
  • Remote work environment with on the ground presence as required.
  • Regular office hours (flexible), with occasional evenings and/or weekends as required for events, or in times of heavy deadlines.

Contract:

  • Full time, permanent
  • Salary range: $78,000 – $83,000
