
Manager, Philanthropy

Lakeridge Health Foundation is seeking an experienced fundraiser to join our team as the Manager, Philanthropy. This driven professional will play a critical role in the strategic direction and implementation of our Foundation’s Major Gifts program.
What you’ll be doing:
The Manager, Philanthropy is a dynamic position responsible for building relationships with donors who have the capacity to give $10,000 or greater. Reporting to and collaborating with the Director, Development and Campaigns, the Manager, Philanthropy is accountable for the successful execution and tracking of major gift activity, including developing strategies and achieving revenue targets.
The Manager, Philanthropy has a key leadership role as part of the Foundation’s Development team and is an active community ambassador for Lakeridge Health Oshawa and Whitby Hospitals, including the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre.
Over the long term, the Manager, Philanthropy will also be responsible for recruiting, coaching and inspiring a growing team of major gift professionals.
Summary of duties:
- Lead the strategizing and execution of the Foundation’s Major Gifts program in collaboration with the Director, Development and Campaigns and Chief Executive Officer.
- Develop and implement annual Major Gifts operating plan, including corresponding budget.
- Analyze and report on results of major gift activity, including activity and revenue targets.
- Manage a personal portfolio of key major donor relationships including individuals, corporations and foundations; achieve pre-determined cultivation and solicitation targets.
- Manage portfolios of planned giving and event sponsorship prospects who also have potential to give major gifts.
- Leverage and collaborate with Foundation’s fundraising volunteers to generate leads, strengthen relationships with donors and secure gifts.
- Write proposals for the solicitation of major gifts and grants, and present corresponding recognition and naming opportunities.
- Make presentations to groups to inform and inspire support.
- Attend events and cheque presentations to represent the Foundation and deliver thank you speeches.
- Recruit, train and coach new Major Gifts team members.
What you bring to the position:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a professional fundraising organization.
- Experienced major gift fundraiser with a history of success identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors at the five-figure level and above.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Superb relationship-building skills, with a proven track record of building and advancing relationships in a fundraising environment.
- Experience recruiting, managing and coaching direct reports.
- Experience working with and motivating volunteers.
- Solid knowledge of relational databases. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A passion for health care and motivated by seeing the meaningful work of the Hospitals at Lakeridge Health.
- CFRE designation is considered an asset.
