The Position

Why Not is seeking a Partnerships and Fundraising Manager to join our team! Responsible for oversight and execution of all aspects of fundraising and development for Why Not overall, this position will report to the Co-Artistic Director and Founder and work closely with Why Not’s Executive Director.

The Ideal Candidate

You are someone who:

  • is sharp and a quick learner with a passion for theatre and performing arts;
  • has 1-2 years of work experience in a similar role;
  • has excellent written and verbal communication skills, knack for storytelling a plus;
  • enjoys collaborating closely with a team;
  • is digitally savvy and operates well in a paperless environment with tools like Google Drive, Slack, Asana, etc.
  • has experience using CRM’s (we use Salesforce);
  • likes collaborating and working closely with many kinds of partners—artists, producers, production managers, vendors, audiences, and donors (to name a few);
  • is a self-starter and can work independently;
  • has prior experience writing correspondence, reports, requests, and other compelling fundraising copy;
  • has experience in coordinating fundraising events.

The Details

You will be responsible for:

    • FUNDRAISING
      • developing strategy for and execution of all private fundraising (Individual, Foundation & Corporate)  in collaboration with Co-Artistic Director and Executive Director;
      • identifying, cultivating, and managing prospects, donors, and corporate partnerships;
      • collaborating with Artistic Director to book meetings with prospective donors;
      • maintaining donor database, as well as funding application pipeline in Salesforce;
      • creating all written copy for fundraising materials and funding applications;
      • design and execution of stewardship and fundraising events throughout the year, both online and in-person;
      • collaborating with designers on all fundraising materials (campaigns, donor newsletters, invitations, etc.);
      • all reporting associated with private fundraising applications, etc.
  • RELATIONSHIPS
    • maintaining good relationships with current donors and building positive relationships with potential donors;
    • developing stewardship plans for new donors based on that individual donor’s interests and needs;
    • managing complimentary tickets, VIPs invites, donor benefits, organization of online and live fundraising events, etc.

How much time will it take?

A full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week, Why Not’s usual working hours are between Mon-Fri 9-6pm. Given the nature of the industry and work, there may be some evenings and weekends, with the flexibility to take time off elsewhere as appropriate. 

Why Not is starting to return to the office at 101 Florence Street in Parkdale two days a week. We’ll be coming back to the office for up to four days a week, gradually, through the summer. 

How much will it pay?

$60,000 CAD annually plus extended health and dental benefits, 4 weeks paid vacation time per year, support for professional development activities in related courses of study, RRSP Matching contribution, as well as an allowance for use of your devices for work purposes.
