This role involves remote/work from home with a requirement for a minimum of two (2) days per week working onsite and may be subject to change as the organization works through its hybrid workforce plan and/or changing needs of the Foundation. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centers in its field. With a dedicated staff of more than 3,000 physicians, clinicians, researchers, educators and support staff, CAMH offers outstanding clinical care to more than 34,000 patients each year. The organization conducts ground-breaking research, provides expert training to health care professionals and scientists, develops innovative health promotion and prevention strategies, and advocates on public policy issues at all levels of government.

CAMH Foundation is charged with raising and stewarding funds in support of CAMH. Its role is to help transform the way we understand and address mental illness by raising awareness and increasing engagement across the country. Generous and dedicated supporters help CAMH advance discovery and innovation, build spaces that promote recovery, and break down the stigma of mental illness.

With a vision to inspire philanthropy to solve the greatest mental health challenges of our time, the Philanthropy team is responsible for inspiring philanthropic support from individuals in the private sector, making up over 70% of CAMH Foundation’s annual revenue. THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Director, Principal Gifts, you will contribute to the collective revenue goals of the Philanthropy team, by inspiring major gifts in support of the CAMH mission. You will be responsible for a donor pipeline of 125-150, supporting the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors who have capacity to support CAMH with multi-year gifts in the range of $25,000 to $100,000. You will work closely with hospital partners, including clinicians and researchers, to ensure alignment between identified funding priorities and the values and interests of donors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising Activity & Revenue Managing your own pipeline of 125-150 major gift donors and prospects, and an average annual production goal of $1M+ (annual goals are aligned with the goals of CAMH’s comprehensive campaign). Writing and preparing Foundation grant applications. Developing and initiating successful cultivation plans for major gift level prospects and donors ($25,000 – $100,000 range). Partnerships Contributing to a strong culture of philanthropy across CAMH by creating collaborative partnerships with hospital peers, and specifically clinicians, researchers and staff in philanthropy. Working closely with CAMH Foundation colleagues collaboratively to support the full cycle of donor engagement from prospect research through to solicitation. Guiding donors and prospects through their donor journey. Volunteer Leadership & Coaching Supporting the recruitment and the management of volunteers for the Campaign and the Board. Inspiring and effectively engaging CAMH volunteers in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors. Supporting CAMH volunteers by leading regular prospect activity meetings. Building cultivation and engagement plans for CAMH volunteers, including their individual giving.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM

• A post-secondary education or comparable combination of work and education experience that is deemed equivalent.
• Three to five years of experience working in fundraising or sales.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Demonstrated ability to think critically
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong person-to-person relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with senior leaders, physicians, and other foundations effectively and collaboratively.
• Committed to achieving goals.
• Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.
• Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment.
• Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently using an above average level of initiative.
• Ability to work as part of a fundraising team.
• Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of CAMHF.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
