The Position
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Senior Content Marketing Specialist is an experienced communications expert who brings a special combination of dynamic storytelling skills, well-honed creativity and leading-edge skills needed to write, create and share cool and impactful content across multiple platforms that support our strategic fundraising goals. The Specialist also has razor-sharp project management and organizational skills which help to manage multiple priorities.
You have demonstrated success producing impactful communications as well as developing well thought-out communications strategies and plans. You also bring intrinsic passion and curiosity to your work and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. You are a skilled communicator and will be able to interface with colleagues, hospital staff, patients and donors at various levels to execute high quality work on time. You also have a knack for searching out and interviewing for the stories and the content necessary to complete a myriad of projects. You are particularly adept at developing plain language communications and pulling out key insights from technical content.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000
Position: Full Time Permanent. Occasional weekend, early morning or evening hours may be required.
Work environment: Hybrid work model with two days in the office located at 4001 Leslie Street in Toronto. Additional in-office work may be required on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
- Develop compelling content in alignment with the foundation’s content strategy and calendar, including:
- Brainstorming content ideas that align with the strategic pillars of the organization, ensuring emails and other communications are planned with other foundation activities in mind, and executing communications as per project plans
- Researching, interviewing, and writing to produce a wide range of key internal and external communications in the brand voice and with compelling storytelling, primarily for social media, emails, website content (blogs and landing pages), and event marketing material
- Serving as the Community Manager for the foundation’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) including managing conversations with our followers, responding to questions/complaints, resharing appropriate content, etc.
- Liaising with the hospital’s Corporate Communications team to align/collaborate on ideas
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with the foundation’s digital agency who will be focused on paid digital strategies and campaigns to reach key audiences through digital tactics (paid search, paid display, paid social, retargeting, etc.)
- Support the CMO and Director on the foundation’s new brand awareness campaign. This will include acting as the day-to-day liaison with the foundation’s creative agency and managing the production details of the brand platform work as we get closer to launch
- Ensure that brand standards, messaging and style guidelines are adhered to in all materials prepared, and that written materials are presented in an appealing and professional manner
- Contribute to creative brainstorming for a variety of projects
- Proofread and fact check communications and marketing materials
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- An undergraduate degree or diploma in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations or related field of study
- Combination of training and/or work experience will be considered
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally in a fundraising and/or health care setting
- A keen ability to source stories from a variety of sources, and craft content for marketing channels, including social media, email marketing campaigns and websites/blogs
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to source and write creative, compelling and emotive stories that demonstrate impact
- Critical thinker and self-starter with strong organizational, research, interviewing and information-gathering skills, and demonstrated ability to adapt writing styles for various audiences and communications channels
- Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective communications plans
- Expert project management and time-management skills with the ability to be proactive, responsive, collaborative, adaptable and work independently
- Experience managing external agencies an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interpret, synthesize and articulate complex concepts into terms that are understandable and compelling to donors and prospects
- Ability to strategically identify content for various needs and to source information through internal and external resources
- Knowledge of best-practices and trends within non-profit/fundraising communications a strong asset
- Photography and video-for-social filming and editing skills a strong asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
- The ability to interface with senior leadership
- Flexible and supportive team member

This position will be a self-starter who thrives equally well in a work from home setting and a traditional office environment. NYGF is working within a hybrid model with staff expected in the office 2 days per week. We offer a competitive, comprehensive compensation/benefits package, including enrollment in HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan).
