About The Role

Our highly skilled Senior Development Officer will report directly to one Senior Director of Major Gifts.  As an integral part of the Foundation’s Major and Estate Giving (MEG) team, the Senior Development Officer works closely with all members of the MEG team and other teams within the foundation.

Key Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily:

Portfolio Management (50%)

  • Manage a portfolio of 75-100 major gift prospects and donors, focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects primarily in the six figure range.
  • Close approximately $1.5M in new commitments annually, dependent on portfolio.

Cancer Centre Relationships (30%)

  • Build meaningful relationships with selected Princess Margaret Cancer Centre partners by serving as the Foundation’s initial point of contact for research groups, referrals from select assigned site groups and, where advantageous, attending site group and research group meetings.
  • Work with supervising Senior Director of Major Gifts to identify referred prospects with $1M+ potential and collaborate on such prospects as appropriate.

Operations and Systems Management (5%)

  • Navigate donor database and request reports
  • Help ensure integrity of database and donor data
  • Execute timely and accurate entry of all substantive interactions and next steps with assigned prospects.
  • Prospect pipeline management and monitoring

Special Projects as Assigned (15%)

  • Partner with the Senior Director to develop select fundraising strategies and portfolios, as appropriate.
  • High level support of supervising Senior Director of Major Gifts on a small number of the Senior Director’s most significant prospects.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising – healthcare environment is an asset
  • University Degree/college diploma required
  • Demonstrated skills in managing multiple projects
  • Proven organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and desire to learn and grow
  • Commitment to excellent donor service
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, juggle competing priorities, be part of a team, be responsive, and meet deadlines
  • MS Office skills
  • Experience with relational databases is an asset

Work Environment:

 Regular daily hours of work with the occasional need for irregular work hours

  • While a hybrid work environment exists, time at the office is expected (700 University Avenue, Toronto)
