The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 27,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 25 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham location. The Senior Development Officer, Major Gift advances the University’s mission by working directly with the Faculty Director, Development to devise and implement a comprehensive Major Gift plan for the Faculty that reflects their strategic priorities, links with appropriate partners within the Faculty, and works in concert with the University’s Academic Plan. The incumbent is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. The incumbent develops strategies to promote strategic partnerships and loyal giving. Personally, solicits gifts (both independently and in conjunction with senior administrators and senior fundraising volunteers), and stewards donors. In addition to Major Giving, the incumbent actively participates in planned giving, donor relations, stewardship, annual giving, alumni relations, and sound information management.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
A university education or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience, specifically in an educational setting. Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional fundraising, with a focus on Major Gifts with a significant exposure to stewardship and Planned Giving. University fundraising and major campaign experience an asset.
