Senior Development Officer, Stewardship

Employment Terms: Full-Time, 3-year Contract

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Campaign and Development and working collaboratively with other members of the Advancement & Community Engagement (ACE) team, the Senior Development Officer, Stewardship is responsible for the development, implementation and growth of all aspects of Branksome Hall’s Stewardship Program. Working collaboratively with all members of the ACE team, the incumbent will develop and drive a comprehensive, strategic recognition and engagement system that relays impact, educates and inspires donors, and instills donor confidence to foster lasting relationships between Branksome and its benefactors.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Stewardship planning:

  • Develop a Stewardship Program business plan and calendar including a timeline of activities;
  • Segment, evaluate and prioritize audiences;
  • Assist with the identification of Major Gift prospects.

Implementation of stewardship initiatives:

  • Create and implement a successful, integrated stewardship program, including matrix, giving societies, policies, guidelines and processes that supports giving at all levels including major gift donors, gift planning, annual and leadership giving;
  • Develop and implement creative and tailored stewardship programs for the school’s major and principal donors that incorporates their interests;
  • Support the creation of recognition and naming policies for the Campaign, manage naming opportunities inventory, presentations, oversee installation of new donor recognition plaques and manage the cumulative donor wall;
  • Prepare all stewardship reports including development of the Donor Impact Report;
  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Services and Finance to track donor gifts, manage gift agreements, stewardship deliverables, endowment spending and monitors stewardship preferences;
  • Assist with planning, development and logistics of donor stewardship events;
  • Regularly evaluate program success.

 Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent;
  • Graduate certificate in fundraising and experience in an educational institution an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a stewardship or related role;
  • Demonstrated history of project management success and experience in curating and executing innovative stewardship programs and events;
  • Ability to critically analyze projects, be adaptive to changing circumstances and problem solve;
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and manage data/gift information;
  • Must be well organized, able to prioritize and manage in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment;
  • Superior written and strong verbal communication;
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications;
  • Knowledge of InDesign would be considered an asset;
  • Understanding of relevant CRA regulations;
  • Planning, budgeting and forecasting skills;
  • Must be collaborative, a self-starter and team-oriented.
