
Senior Fund Development Officer (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Kennedy House is looking for a results oriented Senior Fund Development Officer to join our team. This is a full-time temporary position located at our Head Office in Scarborough. Please note: The duration of this position will be 15 months, from May 1, 2022 until July 30, 2023 to cover a Maternity Leave.
ABOUT US
Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years. KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:
· One residential program for adolescents in care;
· Three residential programs for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
· A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
· Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
· Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
· Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 4-13 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
· Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness.
KH works with youth to enable them to grow as individuals and contribute as members of the community. This is achieved by providing customized support and building trusting relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY
Kennedy House is looking for a results oriented Senior Fund Development Officer to join our team. This is a full-time temporary position located at our Head Office in Scarborough.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Fund Development Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of KH’s fundraising strategy. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing a wide variety of complex functions and services, such as being involved in maintaining contact with key donors, organizing and attending fundraising efforts, assisting in the creation of strategy recommendations, , and administrative duties. The incumbent will engage in a team approach and thereby strengthen our Agency’s capacity as a whole.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising (70%)
· Assist with developing/executing fundraising strategies and reaching funding targets
· Coordinate marketing & communication initiatives to ensure public awareness of fundraising campaigns
· Develop and execute donor stewardship initiatives to enhance donor engagement
· Prospect research to identify funding opportunities in the private and public sector
· Schedule, coordinate, and manage attendance for donor meetings
· Prepare correspondence, reports and presentations for fundraising and donor meetings
· Responsible for weekly/monthly/annual administrative tasks including: all reporting requirements, donor database management/maintenance, donor follow-ups/correspondences, charitable tax receipts
· Write and design fundraising direct mail campaigns (2 annually)
· Coordinate the completion of Annual Report
· Leadership role in fundraising events including third-party events, peer-to-peer campaign
Communications (30%)
· Develop and execute social media strategy
· Support internal communications needs within the agency
· Assist in the maintenance of the Kennedy House website
EDUCATION:
· Post secondary education or an acceptable combination of education and experience
· Accreditation as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), or working towards designation is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum five (5) years of direct work experience in a fundraising capacity preferably for a non-profit youth organization (must be able to demonstrate results)
· Fundraising experience – especially in the area of 3rd Party & Events
· Valid Class G Driver’s License
· Clear Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Search must be maintained
· Ability to prepare and deliver face-to-face presentations to potential funders
· Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
· Superior time management skills and consistently able to meet deadlines,
· multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
· High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
· A strong desire to take initiative and grow fundraising opportunities and awareness
· Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential
· Resourcefulness and flexibility
· Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
· Strong verbal skills to communicate
· Strong customer service orientation
· Broad awareness of other cultures, values, identities and perspectives with a demonstrated ability and interest in working with and for diverse populations
· Fully literate in Word, Excel, and one or more fundraising data base programs

WORK CONDITIONS
· Ability to attend and conduct presentations
· Flexibility to attend events outside of normal work hours when required
· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
· Be able to assist with set up and take down of Special Events
