The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. CAMH Foundation is charged with raising and stewarding funds in support of CAMH. The Direct & Digital Fundraising team is responsible for ensuring our unrestricted revenue stream of funds grows over time – we have clear goals and an open mind on how to achieve them. The Senior Manager, Direct & Digital Fundraising is responsible for the strategy and execution of the mass donor segment (including one-time, monthly and mid-level donors), with oversight of acquisition and donor activations that will create opportunities for all mass base donor segments to engage with CAMH. The role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners, who will often be implementing our fundraising tactics. This position will support strategy and lead tactics designed to grow our donor base through acquisition efforts, increase revenue through retaining and renewing our existing donors, and strengthen the pipeline of donors across other segments.

Reporting to the Director, Direct & Digital Fundraising, the individual who fills this position plays an instrumental role on the Direct & Digital Team as a strong people leader, team player and collaborator.  The ideal candidate will have a ‘roll up their sleeves’ attitude as the expectation is that they will lean in as a doer, in addition to project manager or leader.

Reporting into this role is the Manager, Annual Giving and Specialist, Direct & Digital Fundraising. These roles will support with one having a key focus on acquisition of our monthly donors and the other serving as the mass base segment lead with a strong focus on retention and renewal.

It is an exciting time at CAMH Foundation and this role will be at the forefront of driving the mental health movement, with exposure up and across the Foundation team.


  • Working with the Director, Direct & Digital Fundraising, support in the development of the annual strategy, budget and operating plan
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to the Manager, Annual Giving to develop and execute a multi-channel annual campaign – aligned with the overall CAMH Foundation marketing calendar with a strong focus on retaining, upgrading and engaging all segments, with strong focus on mass base donors
  • Strategic cultivation of the mass base segment, including overseeing the content strategy and execution of donor email communications, direct mail programs and telemarketing / SMS campaigns
  • Drive programs from strategy to post analysis, enabling data-informed innovations and optimizations, working closely with Senior Manager, Marketing Insights & Operations
  • Deliver programs/strategies to acquire and convert mass leads to mass donors, including:
    • Digital lead generation program
    • Lead conversion program
    • With direct report, management of a robust monthly giving face-to-face acquisition program.
  • Achieve seven figure revenue and expense targets related to the above.
  • Partner with the Marketing Insights & Operations team to ensure that all data and income generated through acquisition activity is recorded in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide strategy and creative concept input from an acquisition perspective on paid media and web properties (, donation forms)
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Brand Marketing develop acquisition strategy and messaging during key giving times.
  • Support internal teams with acquisition efforts, regardless of channel.
  • Collaborate with other marketing and segment leaders on nurture programs to ensure leads are stewarded through their donor journey.
  • As a leader on the Direct & Digital Team contribute to and support effective ways to working collaboratively with stakeholders including the hospital partners, vendor partners and internal Foundation teams.
  • Support and coach direct reports, ensuring team goals are achieved on time, on budget.
  • Build and develop successful partnerships with external suppliers, vendors and partners, and manage their performance.
  • Preparing and updating budgets and budget projections.
  • Managing invoice approvals, purchase order preparation and related rationale.
  • Developing recommendations for escalated issues.
  • Daily management of team and performance management.


  • 7+ years of directly related fundraising /digital marketing experience; with a strong focus on annual and monthly giving and donor acquisition; direct experience with managing face-to-face is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong people leader; at least 2+ years of experience managing one or more direct reports in a marketing or fundraising organization; with proven track record of advancing team.
  • Experience in a complex not-for-profit organization, preferably a healthcare organization
  • Proven track record of managing complex fundraising programs and associated budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-channel fundraising initiatives in a multi-stakeholder complex environment, that drive fundraising goals and engage donors
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment in digital fundraising or income generation, including strong understanding of testing methodologies, as well as demonstrated knowledge of integrated digital marketing.
  • Ability to develop and manage complex, tactical multi-channel strategies, understand strategic directions, programs and issues to help advise program area and stakeholders.
  • Skilled project manager; experienced working with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of data, segmentation and fundraising best practices
  • Data mining and analysis and adjustments to approaches and plans based on findings.
  • Expertise in non-profit online fundraising and CRM software and tools, such as Blackbaud (Convio) Luminate Online and TeamRaiser, including an understanding of HTML 5 and CSS, would be strongly preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, and planning
  • Must possess excellent organization, planning and time management skills and exacting attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze trends from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.
