What’s the role?

This fundraising position supports the CAMFED Canada team and is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts from a portfolio of Canadian donors and prospects.

Middle and major donor cultivations and stewardship (80%)

  • Co-develop revenue goals with Executive Director based on analysis of opportunities and resources.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporate and foundation donors and contribute to the overall fundraising team
  • Build meaningful relationships and deepen each donor’s relationship with CAMFED by providing personalized engagement plans using emails, calls, events, and meetings to move donors through a pipeline journey.
  • Conduct individual prospect research and systems to prioritize the identification and cultivation of prospects.
  • Support the Executive Director with donor portfolio management.
  • Adapt existing planned giving strategies and materials developed across the global team for Canada donors.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date records of donor outreach and solicitation plans through regular upkeep of the donor database and submission of call/visit reports.
  • Develop knowledge of and stay current with CAMFED’s programs to share them with donors.

Collaboration, Planning and Leadership (20%)

  • Serve as the key point person for CAMFED Canada to the CAMFED Consortium’s global Fundraising team.
  • In collaboration across the global team, develop, adapt, and evaluate communication tools for donor engagement in Canada.
  • Assist the development and use of key performance indicators to measure impact and enhance the process through which prospects are assisted to deepen their commitment to CAMFED.
  • Support annual and multi-year budget and strategic planning processes.
  • Provide management support and oversight to the Donor Engagement and Database Officer with regular meetings, ongoing performance evaluation/ feedback including assessing workload, prioritizing activity, and ensuring resources are allocated against opportunities where they can have maximum benefit.

Professional experience, qualifications, and attributes we are seeking

  • Highly developed (7+ years) progressive fundraising work experience in the field of stewardship, and donor relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of fundraising best practices, activities, donor engagement and accountability.
  • Excellent listening, communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship building, excellent analytical, research and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to take initiative to manage multiple projects, resources and initiatives in a deadline driven environment with changing priorities.
  • Sound judgement, tact, diplomacy, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality are essential.
  • Commitment to and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission, and vision.
  • Current eligibility to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship or work permit.

Contract and Working Arrangements

  • This is a hybrid or remote position.
  • In-person team gatherings are held at least two times per year at CAMFED Canada’s office in downtown Toronto.
  • The position requires willingness and ability to work in real time with clients and colleagues across multiple time zones.
  • The contract is full time, permanent.
