Nature & Scope:

The Vice President, Campaign Giving serves as a key leader at YMCAGTA and for the Fundraising team.  In this role, the Vice President, Campaign Giving, will identify, build and manage productive relationships with key prospects and donors to secure support to complete the $50M Strong Start, Great Future (SSGF) Capital Campaign the largest capital campaign in the YMCA GTA’s history and grow Major Annual Giving revenue.  The Vice President, Campaign Giving, will be part of a leadership team of three who will participate in the planning and preparation of the YMCA GTA’s next major campaign that will align with the priorities in the strategic plan, Ignite the Light..  They will effectively contribute and strengthen the organizations overall fundraising capacity including Major Gifts, Fundraising events, and a future Planned Giving program.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for formulating and leading the execution of short and long term strategies for SSGF and future Campaign. Campaign Giving has a significant financial and strategic impact, while ensuring alignment with YMCA GTA priorities. This role is accountable for annual revenue ranging from $3M to $10M and growing the YMCA GTA major gift pool.
  • Accountable for overall performance for specific areas of responsibility including SSGF and annual major gifts.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of six and seven figure complex major gift prospects and donors and supporting the CEO and CDO in these efforts.
  • Develop and execute major gift strategies for key prospects.
  • Engage, support and recruit Fundraising volunteers with the goal to leverage and activate their relationships in support of the Fundraising priorities of the YMCA GTA.
  • Develop cases for support, proposals and ancillary materials for YMCA GTA Fundraising priorities.
  • Provide overall leadership and project management for the SSGF and future campaign, serving as a priority lead and collaborating with other Association colleagues to develop opportunities and strategies to engage donors.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for the Senior Development Officer, Stewardship and Planned Giving in development and implementation of stewardship plans for significant donors and the development and implementation of a legacy giving program and the Manager, Prospect Development & Research in the development of the prospect pipeline for the next campaign and transition from the SSGF campaign.
  • Measure, monitor and manage overall performance of direct reports against set performance targets.
  • Perform management responsibilities that support and advance the YMCA GTA’s goals including setting and managing budgets and cash flow.
  • Understand and successfully navigate the philanthropic sector, keeping abreast of best practices locally, regionally and globally.
  • Contribute to the cooperative efforts and initiatives to enhance the YMCA GTA’s mission, values and goals.
  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all children, youth and vulnerable people in YMCA programs. Commits to the professional responsibility of maintaining knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures, child and youth development and best practices to best serve and protect children, youth, and vulnerable people.
  • Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience. CFRE designation preferred.
  • Progressive leadership in senior fundraising roles with proven experience developing and successfully executing capital campaign and major gift fundraising.
  • An outstanding record of professional accomplishment in fundraising including solicitation of major gifts at the 6 and 7 figure level.
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, engaging and supporting volunteers directly involved in major gift cultivations, solicitations and stewardship.
  • Experience guiding and motivating staff with the ability to develop and mentor individuals towards fundraising success.
  • Demonstrated success in developing relationships, engaging and working with staff, senior managers, and strategic partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet set deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Understand and successfully navigate the philanthropic sector, keeping abreast of best practices locally, regionally and globally.
  • Advanced technology skills including experience with Raisers Edge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in promoting a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, and accessibility; previous experience and understanding working with staff, volunteers, and donors from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

Job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a Police Records Check. Within the first four months and every three years thereafter, a Vulnerable Police Records Check is required.
