The Vice President, Marketing & Engagement is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF) in providing strategic leadership to three directors and their teams relating to various aspects of partner, donor, and Member Foundation engagement. As such, they are an enabler of an environment where people thrive, and which contributes to an outstanding organizational culture.

The Vice President will have accountability in six core areas outlined below to elevate excellence, performance, and results, ensuring the team is focused on CCHF strategic priorities and integrating the key areas of Marketing, Stakeholder Experience, Stewardship, and Impact.

The Vice President will also be a key leader in designing the next generation of the digital engagement strategy relating to and supporting the evolution of fundraising, with an emphasis on e-commerce innovation as part of CCHF’s Blue Ocean Expansion pillar of the Strategic Plan.

As a senior CCHF leader, the Vice President, Marketing & Engagement will:

  • Promote CCHF Vision, Mission, Manifesto, Values, Culture and Leadership Competencies.
  • Be a credible voice within areas of accountability to lead, educate, cultivate, and move strategy forward across all stakeholder groups (Senior Management and the CCHF team, Board of Directors, Member Foundation CEOs and their teams, and Corporate Partners)
  • Demonstrate acute business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit with a growth mindset to contribute to strategic partnerships, ensuring this approach is engrained in their team
  • As a strong people leader, encourage, inspire, motivate and develop the team to achieve their business goals, and meet their individual potential
  • In an environment of competing priorities, work collaboratively with CCHF staff, Member Foundations, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, corporate partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gain buy-in
  • Be a skilled problem solver within a fast-paced environment, managing priorities and responding to partners and other stakeholders

Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF), established in 2017, is a not-for-profit organization that exclusively raises funds through national partnerships in support of children’s hospital foundations in Canada.

Together, our 13 Member Foundations are the largest non-government funders of children’s health in Canada. Additionally, CCHF raises more than $50 million annually through national corporate partnerships, donors, and other initiatives across the country. All funds raised nationally, are disbursed back to the children’s hospital foundations serving the local area where they were raised.

We are inspired by our vision if we change the health of children, we will change the health of Canada. We know that developing larger, more strategic partnerships is key to significantly expanding fundraising and impact for children’s health in Canada.

Headquartered in Toronto, CCHF has a Board of Directors, an Audit & Finance Committee, and a Governance & Nomination Committee – all representing the various regions of Canada. The work of CCHF has a staff of approximately 25 employees, with significant additional staff resources dedicated by the Member children’s hospital foundations across the country. CCHF has an annual operating budget of over $5 million, comprised of membership fees paid by the Children’s Hospital Foundations and supplemented by corporate sponsorship and underwriting of CCHF awareness and fundraising properties.

CCHF has an ambitious strategic plan to guide our national partnerships over the next couple of years. It is a practical roadmap, and it is flexible to adapt to whatever faces us along the way. As you will see from the videos on the right, and the placemat below, the strategy is:

  • Based on a burning platform: A compelling reason for forward motion. We are not afraid of the leap, and we approach the edge with diligence, informed by insight.
  • Focused on two core activities: Raising funds and enabling impact. The more funds we raise, the more impact we will enable and in turn, the more impact we enable, the more funds we will raise for children’s health.
  • Centred around four pillars: These pillars are equally important and success in one will contribute to success in the others.


CCHF works with some of the largest companies in Canada. Many have been proud supporters of children’s hospital foundations in Canada for close to 40 years, through the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). The CMN success model was largely through employee engagement in retail settings.

In 2017, CCHF was created as a new not-for-profit organization which assumed the responsibility for CMN campaigns in Canada, while developing other new national opportunities that differ from the CMN model. It was at that time that CCHF also began shifting its focus to larger, more strategic partnerships, while working closely with our large retail partners to evolve with the quickly changing retail landscape.

Each of our corporate partners is highly engaged in the cause and are aligned to the strategic plan. Many of these companies are now operating with an Environmental Social Governance (ESG) framework as the next generation of corporate citizenship and see their partnership with CCHF and the Children’s Hospital Foundations as core to their business, engaging their employees, building trust, and driving social value.

Below is a list of our partners in order of numerical size with the largest partner giving and/or raising over $16 million annually, with most of our strategic partners donating and/or raising more than $500K each.



Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals across North America, 12 of which are in Canada. All contributions raised by companies and their employees in communities across Canada go back to each member foundation to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, and research. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the non-profits’ mission to do what is right for kids so they will have the healthiest most fulfilling childhood possible.

Each day, over 4,900 children will receive medical treatment for various diseases, sickness, and injuries at member hospitals across Canada. These children’s hospitals depend on financial support so that critical priorities, vital programs, equipment, and research devoted to children’s health continue to thrive.



  1. Executive Leadership
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute substantively to organizational strategy and culture, bringing forward thinking and insights to advance the priorities of the Strategic Plan, and to role model CCHF Values
  • Provide strategic support and advice to the President & CEO on areas related to portfolio of accountability
  • Proactively collaborate with peers to support them in moving forward key objectives for their respective areas
  • Provide support to CEO with Board and Board Committee involvement
  • Lead and/or participate on cross functional teams to initiate and deliver high quality services and results to Member Foundations and other stakeholders
  • Provide information and support to Member Foundations related to areas of accountability
  • Be prepared to act on behalf of the President & CEO as required
  1. Marketing & Communications
  • Develop an integrated ‘house of brands’ strategy which elevates local children’s hospital brands in fundraising, while providing a consistent national experience for partners
  • Oversee expansion of cause marketing activation to enable growth in fundraising results
  • Confirm and ensure highly effective translation of all content and communication into value to members and partners
  • Collaborative national approach to communications and issues management
  1. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Motivate and enable a collaborative service structure and business standards practice for CCHF Staff, Member Foundation teams and partners.
  • Create a framework and ecosystem to optimize collaboration in CCHF’s bottom-up, top-down model
  • Ensure national engagement events for Member Foundations, Champion Kids and partners to an engaging experience that drives business and stewardship value
  1. Social Impact
  • Drive an industry setting strategy to amplify and articulate social impact as an enabler of CCHF partnerships in its core activities: to raise funds and enable impact
  • Ensure integrated and cohesive stewardship to partners in leadership and oversight of three direct reports relating to: impact story & measurement, marketing & communications, and operational delivery
  • Build relationships with allied organizations in order to champion necessary systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of impact knowledge that is generated through Member channels and allied organizations
  1. Digital Engagement Strategy
  • Demonstrate and leverage considerable industry experience, vision, and insights in developing new digital strategies not currently existing in CCHF’s network and industry
  • Engage thought leaders and industry experts to support innovation in next-generation fundraising and impact, in the context of CCHF’s business-to-business (B2B) model.
  • Ensure all strategies developed are focused on and support CCHFs two core activities: to raise funds and enable impact
  1. Talent Management
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for HR and other corporate programs and policies, working alongside other senior leaders to nurture culture and model CCHF Values and Leadership Competencies
  • Provide guidance and direction to team, to achieve objectives and priorities
  • Encourage, inspire, and motivate team to maximize performance and individual potential
  • Develop a team of engaged, high performers, through regular communications, providing transparent feedback both informally and during the formal Progress Management processes



Education & Experience:

  • Progressive experience in brand and digital marketing with strategic and operational oversight.
  • Leadership experience in stakeholder relations and engagement in a complex environment with multiple independent stakeholders, each with unique priorities and interests that must be integrated.
  • Previous experience in leading change in a bottom up / top down culture.
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic and annual planning, design, implementation, and administration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business intelligence and CRM platforms such as Salesforce, including relevant leadership experience in information technology as a business enabler.
  • Work experience in multiple sectors, including corporate and not-for-profit.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams and working cross-functionally to drive excellence, integration, and innovation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as part of a leadership team.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance strategies is preferred.
  • Relevant post-secondary education.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is an asset.
