Our division is comprised of four departments:
– Advancement Services & Operations is the administrative and technology support unit for all Advancement activities
– Alumni Engagement provides programs, services, and engagement to over 350,000 York alumni worldwide
– Development leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, friends, corporations, and foundations
– Advancement Communications & Marketing works to promote and communicate alumni and donor messages along with direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement.

In support of this mission, and under the direction of the Associate Director, Advancement (ADA), in Lassonde School of Engineering, the Alumni Engagement Officer will deliver content and offerings that support and enhance the brand and reputation of Lassonde School of Engineering, and which are reflective of the School and University’s values and objectives. The incumbent develops and delivers programs to meaningfully engage Lassonde alumni and other members of the Lassonde and York community and involve them in the life of the School and University. In collaboration with the Associate Director Advancement and other colleagues from across the school, the incumbent supports the planning, development, and coordination of alumni engagement programs, all of which are designed to build mutually beneficial relationships between Lassonde School of Engineering, current students, York alumni and the broader York University community. The incumbent will deploy and develop initiatives in collaboration with Development, Alumni Engagement, Lassonde staff, volunteers, alumni, and friends of the University. The incumbent is responsible for the development, administration, and evaluation of virtual and in-person engagement initiatives targeting Lassonde and York’s alumni community. These engagement initiatives include but are not restricted to: volunteer programs, alumni engagement initiatives, on campus alumni programming, online communities, mentorship programs, awards and recognition programs. The role supports the vision, purpose, values and strategic direction of the Lassonde School of Engineering and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and embraces diversity and fosters inclusion

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

Undergraduate university degree is required. or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Certification of Volunteer Administrators is an asset. Minimum two (2) years recent related experience, preferably in a non-profit or educational environment with an emphasis in adult education, alumni engagement, volunteer coordination, and/or event and program planning/budgeting. Experience in a University environment an asset. Experience in volunteer communications and familiarity with Alumni Relations and Development is an asset.
