Position summary
UHN Foundation is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to support the strategy and execution in a growing direct response portfolio. The Development Officer, Email Marketing is responsible supporting the donor email journey for donors within this portfolio, as well as working collaboratively across the organization to support the overall email marketing program at UHN Foundation.
The Development Officer, Email Marketing is a subject matter expert in email marketing. It is an exciting time to join UHN Foundation. This new role will play an important part in supporting the Foundations strategic priories as we look to improve donor conversion and retention, increase online revenue and focus on unrestricted giving using data-based decision making.
Responsibilities
Revenue Generation
- Oversee the development and implementation of email to engage direct response one-time and monthly donors that support lead generation, donor acquisition and donor renewal to grow the donor file and increase long term value.
- Provide oversight on email segmentation in order to maximize fundraising ROI. This includes identification and management of appropriate opportunities to target various segments, including acquisition, active and lapsed donors.
- Work collaboratively across the foundation to foster integration and provide engaging and seamless donor journeys.
- Provide subject matter expertise across the foundation to support organization wide initiatives.
Data and Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate email performance, including preparing and sharing ongoing results reports to improve program KPIs, with an overall lens on industry benchmarks.
- Establish organizational benchmarks and work across the organization to ensure teams are adhering to best practice for email marketing
- Establish protocols for how email marketing should be used across the organization
- Draw observations based on data trends to improve program strategy and executions
- Work closely with the Manager, Direct Response and Manager, Digital to assess and adjust results being tracked, working with the operation teams on opportunities to build comprehensive and meaningful report templates.
Administration
- Ensure that all relevant data and actions are entered/coded in Raiser’s Edge in a timely manner
- Ensure all files related to Direct Response are maintained and in good working order
- Manage invoice tracking and fulfillment for Direct Response programs
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
- A relevant 4-year degree or, a relevant 3-year degree/diploma combined with a professional certification or, an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience
- 3-5 years of experience working with senior professional fundraising staff and volunteers.
- Strong knowledge of email marketing for non-profits
- Demonstrated track record of delivering against goals
- Ability to set priorities, demonstrate a positive attitude, troubleshoot and problem solve independently using sound judgement.
- Strong interpersonal skills and adept at using tact, diplomacy and discretion with donors, agency partners, suppliers and Foundation and hospital staff
- Experience using data to analyse results and using data-driven insights to inform strategy and decision making
- Experience working in with Luminate Online, Raiser’s Edge and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working in dynamic or complex organizations is an asset

Work environment
- Collaborative, fast-paced, service and results oriented environment
- The Foundation has a hybrid work model. Staff will be required to have a safe home office set-up 3-4 days per week and will be in office for 1-2 days per week, (specifics to be planned with your manager.)
