The Development Officer – Major Gifts and Planned Giving plays a critical role in developing and stewarding Confederation College relationships; in securing private sector gifts; in advancing fundraising strategies and programs; and in managing/orientating senior volunteers. The Development Officer – Major Gifts and Planned Giving will work closely with staff, faculty members, alumni and volunteers to plan, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate fundraising projects. The Development Officer may manage Faculty specific or college-wide fundraising initiatives, and special projects.
Under the guidance of the Director, the incumbent is responsible for the development and management of a prospect and donor portfolio and is responsible for cultivating/maintaining major donor relationships for Confederation College. This position will develop donor relationships leading to major contributions to the College through gifts of cash, securities, in-kind contributions, and planned gifts including bequests, gifts of life insurance and other related opportunities. The incumbent will be responsible for the development of fund-raising case materials and proposals, and will work with College staff, Alumni as well as volunteers to identify fundraising prospects. The incumbent will assist the Director with developing strategies to achieve success through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors. Ability to travel in the campus regions and beyond to develop and secure major contributions for the College is required.
