Position Overview:
The Director of Campaign and Community Giving is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the overall strategy, execution, and management of the “We Care, We Can” Campaign and other major fundraising initiatives at Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. This Campaign is the largest fundraising initiative in Bowmanville’s history and will significantly enhance access to care and elevate the quality of services available to the residents of Clarington and beyond. This role ensures the effective engagement of key stakeholders, manages relationships with major donors, community groups, and corporate sponsors, and oversees the planning and implementation of multi-year fundraising efforts to meet the hospital’s capital and operational goals.

The Director is also responsible for leading the community giving program, with a focus on fostering community partnerships, increasing donor engagement and maximizing donations through various channels such as annual campaigns, events, and planned giving. The position requires a strong strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising, campaign management, and leadership within a non profit environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Campaign Leadership
    • Lead the strategic planning and execution of the “We Care, We Can” Campaign.
    • Develop and implement a campaign roadmap, including timelines, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Oversee campaign communications, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership, the Campaign Cabinet, and board members to secure leadership gifts, corporate sponsorships, and major individual donations.
    • Lead the design and implementation of donor stewardship plans to strengthen relationships with top donors.
  2. Community Giving & Donor Engagement
    • Strengthen and expand the annual community giving strategy, encompassing direct mail, monthly donor programs, events and third-party fundraising initiatives.
    • Build relationships with internal partners, local businesses, community groups, and organizations to encourage philanthropic support.
    • Ensure effective stewardship practices for all community donors, developing engagement strategies to retain and grow the donor base.
    • Develop and implement tailored fundraising programs to align with the interests and priorities of diverse community segments.
  3. Major Gifts & Planned Giving
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift prospects, collaborating with the Manager of Major Gifts & Planned Giving to achieve individual and team fundraising targets.
    • Proven experience in major gift development, including securing $1,000,000+ gifts, and working closely with senior volunteers and institutional leadership.
    • Provide strategic direction for the planned giving program, ensuring long-term financial sustainability for the Foundation.
    • Organize and lead donor cultivation events, site visits, and recognition programs.
  4. Team Leadership & Development
    • Supervise and mentor the Campaign team, including the Manager of Major Gifts & Planned Giving and Coordinators.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and promoting professional development.
    • Work closely with the Foundation’s leadership team to align campaign goals with the organization’s overall fundraising strategy.
  5. Collaboration & Partnerships
    • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to design and implement effective communication strategies for campaign and community fundraising initiatives.
    • Develop partnerships with Lakeridge Health, community leaders, and other healthcare organizations to support shared campaign goals.
    • Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation at public events, community functions, and stakeholder meetings, representing the organization and its mission.
  6. Performance Management & Reporting
    • Track campaign and community giving metrics, providing regular reports to the CEO, board, and other key stakeholders.
    • Develop and monitor annual fundraising budgets, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s financial goals.
    • Analyze trends in donor data and community engagement to refine strategies and maximize outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role, with proven success in running large-scale fundraising campaigns.
  • Demonstrated expertise in major gift fundraising, donor cultivation, and community engagement.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising staff and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and steward diverse groups of donors and stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, emotional intelligence, and commitment to the mission of Bowmanville Hospital Foundation.
  • Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising analytics.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.

Compensation: $118,000 – $140,000 Salary will be determined commensurate with experience.
