Do you want to use your fundraising skills to support Greenpeace’s mission for a green and peaceful future? Greenpeace Canada is looking for an experienced, ambitious, and creative fundraising professional to join our team.

Supporters are at the heart of Greenpeace and how we fund our important work. As Donor Growth & Acquisition Specialist, you will take a leading role in bringing aboard new one-time and monthly donors to Greenpeace Canada.

As a member of our fundraising team, you’ll work with colleagues, freelancers, and agency partners to meet ambitious donor acquisition and revenue targets. You’ll identify and develop strong cases of support and fundraising appeals that demonstrate how people can contribute to a better future with Greenpeace and inspire them to give generously. Working collaboratively within campaign teams, you will help develop impactful campaigns with strong fundraising potential.

As the primary relationship holder for Greenpeace Canada’s telemarketing and face-to-face agency partners, you will know how to build trusting, stable partnerships, and motivate teams to deliver their best work. You will also be able to pay close attention to detail when working to build out email marketing campaigns, reviewing reports, and preparing budgets.

The ideal candidate will have experience in individual giving and donor acquisition and/or email marketing and supporter communications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Identify fundraising opportunities within Greenpeace campaigns and work collaboratively with colleagues and campaign teams to develop campaigns with strong fundraising potential.
  • Working with the Donor Growth & Marketing Team, plan digital fundraising appeal campaign themes, research and develop copywriting briefs, coordinate copywriting, sign off, and translation.
  • Build, test, and send email marketing campaigns to Greenpeace supporters and donors.
  • Act as the primary contact and relationship holder for telemarketing and face to-face partners.
  • With the Director of Fundraising and Head of Marketing and Donor Growth, develop budgets, targets and plans for acquiring, retaining, upgrading and reactivating monthly donors and one-time donors through multiple direct marketing channels, including face-to-face canvassing, telemarketing, and digital.
  • Coordinate payment processes for the monthly giving program. Regularly review results and work together with agency partners on strategies to course correct and improve as necessary.
  • Establish and manage the calendar and territory selection for all activities associated with monthly giving and work with agency partners to ensure that campaigns are launched on time and deadlines are met.
  • Working with the data team, establish selection criteria for telemarketing programs (related to monthly giving) and ensure timely delivery of data to agency partners. Work with the data team to establish and maintain data processes and ensure they are followed by agency partners.
  • Create and regularly update all scripts, cases for support, briefing materials, and Q&As for telemarketing and face-to-face agency partners. Coordinate the set-up of acknowledgement letters for all monthly giving fundraising campaigns.
  • Monitor campaign performance, including retention and long-term value of monthly supporters. Ensure canvassers and callers are on message by listening to call recordings, conducting mystery shopping, and through regular check-ins with the Supporter Care Team. Work with agency partners to quickly address any misinformation or complaints.
  • Manage the telemarketing portion of the lead conversion program, working with the Donor Growth & Marketing Team to develop an overall strategy and to ensure telemarketing partners are supplied with a steady source of qualified leads.
  • Contribute to, participate in, and lead integrated campaign and project teams as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required skills and experience:

  • 3-5 years  of relevant work or voluntary experience in fundraising, sales, digital marketing, or a similar/related field.
  • Comfort and familiarity with CRM and email marketing software such as HubSpot.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic online environment, manage multiple projects and competing priorities, while keeping others on track to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use data and insight to inform future decisions, ability to work with Excel and Google spreadsheets to make calculations.
  • You should be an excellent communicator, a great team player, and have a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation by actively sharing knowledge and striving for continuous improvement.
  • General knowledge of environmental and social justice issues and knowledge of the overall goals and intent of Greenpeace are required.
  • Verbal and written English proficiency is required; French language proficiency is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis languages are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of other languages that reflect the diversity of Canada’s many communities are also highly desirable

Candidates should understand and support the Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience.
