Your opportunity:
Under general direction of the Executive Director, Campaign Strategy & Planning, the Manager Campaigns will support campaign plans to attract and engage a high level of commitment and participation from Canada’s most senior philanthropic leadership by cultivating the campaign’s top donors as campaign volunteers, management of those donors’ relationship and ensuring that these volunteers are supported to the highest professional standards.
As Manager, you will use your superior interpersonal skills to liaise with various units within the University (including the President’s Office, VP, International, VP, Research & Innovation, Advancement and Principals and Dean’s offices in divisions around the University). You will maximize the participation of U of T leaders in campaign activities including the President, Vice-President Advancement, Deans and Principals and manage the participation of external VIPs in campaign related activities.
You will work with internal stakeholders to ensure key targets are met for the campaign and relationships with stakeholders are maintained positively. You will plan senior volunteer and/or senior university leadership committee meetings and task forces and plan senior stakeholder summits, research studies, high level consultations with Principals and Deans as well as academic leads, signature events, internal and external communications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Soliciting, cultivating and managing campaign volunteer leadership relations
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Maintaining ongoing relationships with donors whose co-operation is important to the University
- Drafting donor acknowledgment and recognition communications
- Developing overall project design
- Providing feedback on the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns
- Planning and administering expenditures for operating budget
- Overseeing day-to-day operational needs of the unit
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Five years preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization), in development, stewardship, advancement services or related field.
- Experience working with members of a senior leadershipteam, working on committees with multiple stakeholders. Experience working with volunteer committees, including tracking committee outcomes and actions / minutes
- Experience planning and implementing large projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Knowledge of project management techniques, methodologies and tools.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience recruiting and motivating key campaign volunteers.
- Proven record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups having diverse interests and backgrounds.
- Experience drafting communications with donors / volunteers
- Experience with database management and reports
- Experiencing managing budget and / or training in financial reporting. Experience in donor stewardship and reporting.
- Experience organizing events
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, board members, donors, and prospective donors.
- Strong computer skills and ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results. Proficient in latest versions of Microsoft Office and donor management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and be able to execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
