Description of the Position:
The Manager, Development Operations is responsible for leading the process, administration, data and reporting of key components across the operations of the Development team. They will be a collaborator who identifies challenges, provides solutions and implements change (i.e. process improvements, reporting, etc.) to ensure seamless integration across the Development team. This individual is supported by an Associate, responsible for leading administrative processes and driving strategic initiatives as well as a Coordinator, responsible for centralized data and reporting. The Manager will also play a pivotal role in the management of the Heal the Future Campaign Cabinet.
You will:
- Lead the Development wide operational integration strategies and plans
- Manage two direct reports
- Create and lead the Development-wide communications strategy by working together with Stewardship and Donor Relations / Communications to ensure timely donor outreach on key aspects of the business, Development wide team discussions or improvements, Master Outlook for Development, and more
- Create and lead strategic processes to improve cross-team integration including but not limited to business planning, goal setting, events planning
- Lead the strategy for data, reporting and education across Development – i.e. set the key metrics for the Development Dashboard, regular reporting to the Development Leadership team, identify education opportunities across Development
- Strategically analyze data to inform strategy
- Identify net new opportunities to improve collaboration across Business Units, creating and refining processes, communication, data and reporting, etc. as well as working together with the Director, Campaign and their direct reports to implement change
- Coordinate Campaign Leadership meetings, Campaign Cabinet meetings and Staff Partner meetings
- Support the testing and implementation of the Campaign Cabinet donor prospect app
- Review financial and activity-based reports for Development Committee, Audit and Finance and the Board of Directors and provide insights and key messages
- Support the implementation of the Foundation’s Campaign Communications plan
- Design and develop team-wide systems for strategic reporting, business analytics, and portfolio management, establishing analytics and reporting mechanisms to evaluate strategic initiatives
- Create systems to measure, analyze, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate portfolios
- Liaise with platform partners (i.e., Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations, Benevity, United Way), managing reporting requirements and troubleshooting data integrity issues within granting systems
- Ensure data integrity across the team by adhering to Foundation-wide database coding standards and collaborating with cross-functional departments to develop new criteria as needed
- Drive process improvement initiatives across the Development business unit, including process mapping, identifying efficiencies, developing solutions, and creating change management plans
- Design and implement project management tracking systems for Development and Campaign initiatives using Microsoft 365 tools (i.e. Excel, Planning, etc.)
- Coach, mentor, and support Coordinators and Associates across the Development team
- Lead the business unit’s annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring adherence to Finance timelines
Qualifications:
While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- 5+ years of in-depth experience with financial processes, procedures, relationship databases and giving platforms; knowledge of Blackbaud with be considered an asset
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously with tightly prescribed timelines
- Expertise in managing relationships with external vendors, partners and donors, ensuring effective collaboration and issue resolution
- Familiarity with fundraising practices and deliverables, with experience in comprehensive campaign environments
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional team to deliver on shared goals
- Skilled in team leadership, including coaching, resource allocation, prioritization and successfully leading teams through organizational change
- Exceptional project management skills; organized and detailed oriented, with strong follow-through
- Resourceful, with proven ability to set priorities and complete work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines

Total Compensation Package:
Hiring Salary Range: $81,251.00 – $101,566.00; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $116,803.00. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Manager, Development Operations.
