
Manager, Donor Engagement and Events
Pickering College is an independent day and boarding school in Newmarket, Ontario. As a key member of the Advancement team and reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager, Donor Engagement and Events plays a lead role in building meaningful connections and inspiring generosity within the Pickering College community. This individual is a dynamic front-line fundraiser and event strategist, responsible for designing and delivering exceptional donor experiences—from personal outreach to memorable events—that reflect the spirit and values of our school.
The Manager will support annual and major giving and deliver signature events that celebrate community and philanthropy. They will also develop and implement communications strategies, ensuring messaging is authentic, consistent and aligned with Pickering’s brand and mission.

Given the dynamic and collaborative nature of our school environment, this role is on-site, five days a week with some evening and weekend work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a front-line fundraiser, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual and major gift prospects, including among alumni
- Designs and implements integrated engagement strategies to increase donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades
- Plans and executes a suite of high-impact events from concept to completion (e.g., Gala, Golf Tournament, donor cultivation and stewardship events)
- Develops and implements the communications strategy for these events—including digital, social, and print—ensuring they are compelling, timely, and mission-driven
- Collaborates with the Communications Team to ensure synergy and consistency in messaging
- Develops audience segmentation strategies and targeted outreach using Raiser’s Edge NXT and other CRM tools
- Assesses the impact of events and communications through data tracking and analysis
- Conducts surveys and gather insights to continuously improve donor experiences
- Supports database integrity by capturing interactions and updating profiles with relevant insights and preferences
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Daily interaction with the Director of Development and the Advancement Team
- Regular interaction with donors, volunteers, the Head of School’s Office, Assistant Head of School, faculty, staff, and student ambassadors
- Collaborates and communicates with other departments outside of Advancement in the planning and execution of any activities
- Occasional coordination with external vendors, venues, and community partners
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- University degree in a related field
- Proven experience in donor engagement, fundraising, alumni relations, or advancement
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing events with measurable results
- Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship principles
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling and content creation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge NXT
- High level of initiative, creativity, and attention to detail
- Excellent project management and time management skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a deep commitment to inclusion and relationship-building
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
