The Position
The Manager, Finance is responsible for supervising all accounting functions and the monitoring, analysis and reporting of organizational activities which includes, but is not limited to, financial, campaign, endowment and granting activities. Also key responsibilities of the role are financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, oversight of the annual budget process, preparation of HST claims and audit deliverables, and adherence to required CRA and privacy requirements with respect to record-keeping. Reporting to the Director, Finance & Corporate Services, the incumbent will supervise the Accounting Assistant and Finance Assistant.
Qualifications and Experience
-Completion of post-secondary Education in Accounting or Finance, and/or actively pursuing a professional accounting designation, preferred
-Minimum of five (5) years of hands on accounting experience
-Strong knowledge of ASPE NPO and CRA guidelines for non-profit organizations
-Keen understanding of current finance and accounting principles in the not-for-profit sector
-Knowledge of and experience in Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge, mandatory
-Strong Excel skills, including ability to work with Pivot tables
-Proficient in the use of all corporate MS-Office productivity tools, e.g. Word, PowerPoint
-Evidence of the ability to design and implement custom reports from Financial Edge
-Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
-Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment as part of excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to different levels of stakeholders
-Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
-Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
-Ability to work independently using an above average level of initiative coupled with the ability to work as part of a team
-Ability to maintain confidentiality
-Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of Southlake Foundation
