Location: The position can be located either in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto. This is a flexible work-remote position with occasional in person meetings.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing and Communications Officer coordinates, develops and disseminates research program announcements, research impact and outcomes content for all digital tools, including website, social media platforms and newsletters. This position also supports the production of donor proposals and donor stewardship materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and layout of monthly e-newsletter Brain News in CRM platform, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Produce announcements and related research stories to highlight impact of Brain Canada funding and partnerships.
  • Contribute content for e-newsletters, annual report, website copy, social media platforms.
  • Update Brain Canada’s website (currently WordPress).
  • Leads Brain Canada’s social media presence with relevant research impact and stewardship posts.
  • Disseminate funding opportunities, reminders, and other communications to research community via CRM and social media (Mailchimp, subject to change).
  • Contribute to digital campaigns throughout the year.
  • Support creation of marketing materials for events.
  • Support corporate communication efforts for the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR teams to update the Careers section of the website and disseminate job opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers, team members, and partners to build Brain Canada’s content calendar.
  • Good knowledge of media monitoring software (Meltwater).
  • Contribute to production of research impact videos.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director, Marketing and Communications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Experience in developing unique and creative social media strategies, in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Strong background writing engaging research impact features and donor recognition materials.
  • Experience working at a health care funding organization or Canadian charitable organization an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English (oral and written): The incumbent of this position will be required to communicate continuously in English with all internal and external stakeholders in Canada.
  • French is an asset and priority will be given to candidates that can work in both official languages.
