Women’s College Hospital Foundation
Through the generosity of the community, the Foundation fuels the Hospital’s excellence in research and healthcare. Women’s is at the leading edge of fundamental changes in the healthcare system and the Foundation plays a critical role in advancing this agenda by supporting the Hospital and its extended mandate through fundraising. Donors have been, and continue to be, paramount to the success of progressive healthcare.
The Opportunity
As a key member of the Philanthropy team, the Philanthropy Associate will play a critical role in building relationships with our donor community, including grateful patients, physicians, staff and volunteers to promote the Foundation’s mission and secure philanthropic support for the hospital. Reporting to the Manager, Annual Giving, the incumbent will serve as a key contact and advocate for the hospital foundation, both internally and externally.
Core Deliverables
- Assisting in the development and implementation of annual giving programs, including hospital staff and physicians’ family campaign, in-tribute giving, Give with THANKS grateful patient program, staff lottery, and other funding opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members through phone follow-ups, in-person conversations, and events.
- Prepare in-house solicitation and stewardship activities for internal giving campaigns.
- Manage elements of giving activities, including managing RSVPs for events, donor thank-you calls and reinstating former monthly donors.
- Support in the development and execution of donor events and cultivation activities.
- Develop and deliver presentations and speeches to various audiences.
- Collaborate with the Women’s College Hospital Archivist and Association of Volunteers to coordinate meetings and tours with prospects, donors, and volunteers
- Acts as back up for Foundation administrative support (e.g., answer phone inquiries and make stewardship calls).
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, public relations, fundraising management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of work experience, preferably within a non-profit organization or business development environment.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Superior organization skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritize a diverse workload, as needed.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment, as well as dealing with the public.
- Proactive working approach, high degree of initiative, and a learning mindset.
- Professionalism and patience when communicating with donors, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience with fundraising database software is considered an asset.
- Availability to work outside of regular business hours on occasion.
- Flexibility to assist with assignments and work outside of the core job description.
This is a fully on-site role (5 days / week) at Women’s College Hospital
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 per annum. Eligibility for merit pay and comprehensive benefits, including Healthcare Ontario Pension Plan enrollment.
