
Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts

The Position:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement, the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts (SDOMG) is responsible for the guidance and execution of the major gifts program, including managing relationships and securing support from donors with interest and capacity to make gifts of $25,000 and above.
The SDOMG will manage a personal portfolio of 75 to 100 individual, corporate and foundation prospects. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the SDOMG will support, implement and evaluate a plan for major gifts fundraising. The SDOMG will work closely with other Advancement staff, with school faculty and staff at the school, to promote the acquisition of major gifts by engaging in strategic and operational discussions and coordination towards successful cultivation, solicitation, implementation and stewardship of gifts.
The SDOMG will work closely with the Annual and Leadership Giving and Alumni Engagement teams to ensure coordination amongst all giving levels and programs. The SDOMG will also work closely with the Finance team at Havergal in order to ensure a clear path for donor needs such as establishment of funds, execution of other aspects of donations, for tax receipts and for other reporting components such as updated numbers and names of recipients. The SDOMG will work with relevant faculty whose programs are in receipt of donor support to ensure efficient and effective planning and implementation of opportunities and priorities. The SDOMG must be able to work independently while also working as a member of the Advancement team.
The candidate will be an individual who has had successful results in fundraising, and in particular, in major gifts and campaigns, has worked with emerging and established major gift donors, and who has a strong track record of successful experience in the fundraising and development environments.
